I initially wrote this comment before you started to speak about your health, so I place my words to that above that right here… Damn, I don’t have much to say to that, because I am not educated enough in things related to this... I am glad your doctor suggested a plan! #JaeHyukPD_Can_Do_It Also sorry to make that reference to “17 years old PD” under the different post, it was related to your words on Threads, now when you mentioned the car accident (when you were 17) I realized my comment might have seemed dumb… If I should rank 3 survival shows I have seen recently: 1) A2K (I am so hyped for L2K, Latin 2 Korea) 2) NCT Lastart 3) I-Land 2… I watched I-Land 2 just because it was in a collab with The Black Label, so I was curious for the producers’ point of views and feedback. + it was promoted as “the next group Teddy will produce”. But Teddy is not in the show at all and it is not like he would be giving any feedback and advice as in cases of JYP forming his groups for example. So later on I realized WakeOne/MNet just wanted to promote it as the group, which will be produced by the man, who is behind BLACKPINK and other big acts. + The Black Label thought it could serve as a good promotion for them, so the general public will start to view them as a label on their own and not as a YG’s subsidiary anymore (people still think they are under YG…). And at the end of the day it would be: “Okay, whatever…”, but the show is SO SCRIPTED… I can see MNet just giving them (LeeJung, Monika, TaeYang, 24 and VVN) what to say in each episode, so they sat there and did so and that is pretty much it. It is unclear if The Black Label will be involved in the group anyhow more from now on. People would say they will be co-managed by WakeOne and The Black Label, but based on the attitude from their side and based on the fact WakeOne wants it as their first pernament group, it feels like they might produce songs here and there or maybe their discography in general for a certain amount of time. + The Black Label does not mention them as their group at all.. (Although Somi as the story teller for the final episode said to the final members: “Welcome to The Black Label” 😅😅😅😅 I was like: “Girl, that is not the upcoming girl group from The Black Label 😬😬). Regarding the line up… Well… fans are satisfied, because they made fans like the ones, they wanted to debut, so they took care to give them enough screentime. I would not say the show is “the worst”, it is more like: “If you know how survival shows work and you can use your brain enough, you just simply figure early on what they are doing and that is it” The producers are not super mean, it is just… “it does not matter what they say, since it is scripted…” And as someone else mentioned here, yeah… a few eliminations and the way MNet made them go through that was awful. But well… it is MNet after all, not surpring that much. To be honest, the show is not great, but it is not like “what the fvck is this shit??”, people just make it feel like as if it was something that has never been done before… To be fair, I would recommend watching the show in a similar case as with NCT Lastart, which is: “If the group gets my interest, I might watch…” If you need a girl group content here, I highly recommend A2K! It is short to watch, so technically you can get to any other content after this really soon. + As you know… you and J.Y. Park share many thoughts and point of views (based on his feedback in LOUD). Regarding boygroup content/survival show. NCT Lastart is nice, I would like to rewatch that with you for sure, but I cannot help it and let you know that… Road to Kingdom 2 is coming and THE NEW SIX and YOUNITE (Lim Kyungmun’s group) are there!!

Hi PD, how sorry to hear that it may be irreversible to remove the pain, which is why I wonder if you would not do well to announce a temporary rest period with a clear announcement so that you can recover optimally. Those who want to continue to support you can then do so and others can choose to cancel their subscriptions. If there is a chance of it healing, it may not be worth the risk of overusing it. But it's still your choice. About I-Land 2 n/a (not sure why it's called that), the show per se is interesting and it is very similar to the first season of I-land, but there are some things you need to know. The format is different from what you're used to. Voting is now mainly done by judges and the influence of peer evaluation has been reduced. Eliminations are also much earlier than in the first season (which I think makes it unfair for people who could use just a little more time to get better). The jury is actually not a very good choice in my opinion. So you have Leejung and Monika from SWF, VVN and 24 as producers and Taeyang as additional judges, among others. To start with the SWF girls, in my opinion they expect a little too much from trainees of a K-POP group. They are obviously used to participating in a show with other good dancers and now have some trouble scaling that back to the trainees. 24 is actually a little disrespectful to some trainees in my opinion, he doesn't give constructive feedback but belittles some girls at times. If I'm honest, Taeyang is only there as a flex, he gives his opinion from time to time but nothing more really comes out either. Screentime is a huge issue, some girls you completely forget exist. The group is produced by Teddy of The black label, but they are finally under contract with WakeOne. To this day I still don't know how this works. Episode 7 is actually complete filler with additional footage from other episodes. (is 2 hours long though) This group could indeed become very good, but they need to come up with a clear plan and adopt an appropriate concept (we don't want to get Kep1er 2.0, at least for Shooting Star) About LASTART (what I took a quick look at) the show does look a bit like what you are used to from &TEAM's show Thing is, Sion and Yushi debut anyway, SM had already chosen them to debut in advance (kinda like the I-land boys during &TEAM's show) They suddenly add an extra trainee in the middle of the show because there are not enough good singers in the show. (Interpret for yourself how this sounds) The last episode is more variety than survival show My verdict at the end of the show is that it is not really worth it, especially a lot of praise for Yushi and Sion. The rest is IN THE SHOW in my opinion very mediocre compared to for example I-Land 2 or Boys Planet. From what I have seen of them outside the show they are very good, but at the time it was not really interesting. I'd rather recommend Make Mate 1 or NIZI Project 2 instead. Make Mate 1 is a Korean show with male trainees held between 2 teams that are constantly changing (Mate A and Mate B). There are no labels involved in the process (except CHROMOSOME by Lay for the Chinese trainees). The trainees are high quality or learning fast and it shows in the show Each round there are special judges (One of them is linked to the I-land project) I think this show would be on par with Boys Planet and LOUD (which are my favorite shows) Nizi-Project is a Japanese show that is essentially the same as LOUD, but with stones they have to earn in order to debut In addition to their skills, the show asks the trainees about their personal skills (as in LOUD) and passion and dedication to be allowed to debut. It's a bit like LASTART, but better executed in my opinion This is the concept that JYP now applies to all the groups. This show is easy to watch and is less than an hour long per episode. I think this is a good format for a show to measure skills as well as passion and dedication. Then you get the best idols in my opinion Other shows coming up: ID143 : My Favorite Debut: July Universe League: September (successor to LOUD and Universe Ticket) Road To Kingdom 2: September (successor Road To Kingdom, Queendom, Kingdom, ...) SCOOL: September Project 7: october Under 15 october (just for your information, applications between 3-15 years old) Hip-Hop School: 2024 If you want my opinion I would say it's best to go watch I-Land 2 anyway for the trainees, besides that I would recommend Make Mate 1 because it's a really good show. After that if you are looking for something else I would recommend watching Nizi Project 1 or 2 or A2K to get an idea of how JYP forms a group. For the near future I would definitely schedule RTK 2, the other shows I can't really comment on yet. But mostly choose what you yourself find interesting.

Sorry to hear about your jaw, I hope everything goes well going forward. On the topic of I-land 2 I'd be really interested to hear your thoughts as I think they really improve on the set up of the show and it's missions from the first season and also though not everyone I wanted to make it did, the show has an amazing line up. Wishing you the best!

Honestly, I do not watch elimination programs like Iland or Girls Planet, etc. as I find they create too much invented drama and we can see who they are pushing for the top. I basically don't like emotional manipulation, especially of young people chasing their dream. I tried Lastart just because I liked the judges and I actually liked it. I think mainly because it was more helpful advice given by the mentors and the judges. It may be that since it is an internal SM group, everyone was really invested in making sure the right people debuted and that the current idols actually cared about the trainees as they would be their co-workers and maybe perform with them in the future. Which happened as Wish collaborated with Super Junior at SM Town. It also has the bonus of not being fan vated, which I dislike as most fans don't actually vote for the talent displayed, but who they stan.

Hi PD, I'm sorry to hear about your jaw. I hope you'll be able to reverse the disease. Please don't watch I-land 2. It's really not worth it. The final lineup is decent, but it was the kind of show where it was obvious who'd be in the finals from the first episode. If you're looking for a girl group survival show, I'd recommend Girls on Fire instead. It's a survival show specifically geared towards people who are great vocalists. Young-K from Day6 and Eunji from Apink are two of the judges. There's a cover of Gods by New Jeans on that show, and it was pretty incredible and unique. I don't think I've ever seen anything like that in kpop before.
