Nutty Programs (Patreon)
Content
There have been several complains from my side before and it seems this crap won't find an end. Not only that Patreon doesn't answer at all anymore to any complains from my side about the Patreon application (so I gave up on annoying them), now the main trouble is with Inkscape, again.
After many years the 'new' version, Inkscape 1.0 (4035a4f, 2020-05-01), is finally available. New is that it doesn't has to be installed anymore, it's just one object to put anywhere, click it and it's working... so they say. There is just a tiny little problem (as if it could be different). The old files made with the elder versions, like Inkscape 0.92.5 (2060ec1f9f, 2020-04-08) and versions before, talking about nearly all svg files that I created for my comics, are not readable with the new version, because there are so many errors in them that the new version tries to open it, runs and runs and runs, but is not able to. I canceled it after 30 minutes. Maybe you can remember that I have had the pains that svg files grew way too large and could only made smaller again with other software, but with a severe loss of some data, like linear gradient, blur, opacity or some objects suddenly became outlines (strokes), where none should be, or round lines are suddenly out of round. To keep a long, sad story short, now I have two versions of Inkscape, the old and the new one. The old one just to be able to work with my old svg files. I have had to strip each single frame of the current comic project into single svg files, reduce the size with another software (LibreOffice Draw, reduces some file sizes down to 10%) and put them together again with the new Inkscape version. If this new version is able to handle that at all, so that too large files will not appear again, will turn out to be.
So I'm currently busy with re-arranging all current 13 frames again, correcting converted files, to make them free of any errors. Sorry for the delay, I can't help it. To make a bad day even worse, the good soul, who wanted to help me with the background images hasn't delivered yet, he wanted to already weeks ago, but it looks as if I will have to do the backgrounds by myself again.
In other words, nothing new to report, just the usual catastrophes. Uh, by the way, programmers are not dumb, they just think different. And yes, I am quite grumpy currently...
