So I haven't touched watercolour pencils since dial up was a thing, I HATED them but honestly I blame lack of proper understanding of how to apply them than the medium itself.
I still used traditional watercolour as base colour and halo is metallic watercolour.

This is 6X9 hot press paper, as my rule when new to a medium, make a lot of small pieces so I don't burn out in frustration while learning.  I like how it turned out the next piece I have some things I'll change like I won't ink it till the end as I MIGHT like a softer edge.

I'll take some photos and video, along with the wild dog.
