So I got an idea of this and decided to run with it. My Fiancé brought up I have nothing anthro for the art show so I was trying to think of something. Anthro work doesn't sell well for prints for me unless it's very puss in boots/fairy tale looking or a higher rating.  It's why I paint a lot of regular animals, it's what sells best for me and honestly I like painting animals too.
Then I got an idea from Masquerade of the Red Death as that's one of my favourite short stories of Edger Allan Poe. Now I drew another image similar to this that is more in line with the story, death is more somber pose, has the giant window in the background, with black curtains on the sides.
But It would require a lot of reworking to make it a striking image.

This idea is closer to Hans Holbein the Younger Dance Macabre as you look at depictions of death he's a very lively, snarky fellow. It's something I've always liked so I just decided to run with this sketch despite it's not very close to the short story. Really the only thing it shares is a mask but why a fox, then my  Fiancé brought up about how in the scare of the Black Plague they covered up Fox dens(many other burrow/dens animals as well) thinking it was night air from the 'miasma theory'  causing sickness.  So we have this death fox figure now.

I'll be inking this digitally so I can get a uniformed line weight. Then print it and mount the paper to cradled wood. I plan on painting it in watercolour.

That’s pretty epic! 😍

Love the artwork and your concept behind it. Be kind of interesting to see various OC's in a death theme ;D

That would be, especially if I could keep it in the theme of the original illustrations of the Danse Macabre. I hope Patreons like reading the write ups to illustrations. :)
