While wandering along the beach in my astral form, I noticed a young woman walking by herself, tears streaming down her face. Drawn to her in my ghostly body, I hovered close and accidentally got too close. I tried to back away – this wasn’t the girl I wanted to use to get my revenge. I slipped into her body with a loud pop and felt the girl’s warmth engulfing my entire astral body.

Regret immediately flooded every inch of my mind. I was a depressed, dying witch who had been practicing spells for only a week with a twisted goal: to take back my ex-boyfriend. After my life span was limited to only a few months because of a tumor, I was willing to pass on without much of a fight. All I wanted to do was spend the rest of my days with Andrew. He could move on from me after I was long gone, but I learned recently that he had been cheating on me since we started dating. He broke up with me when I only had two months to live.

My life had been filled with despair and self-loathing, always comparing myself to others and feeling inadequate. But now it was worse – I was betrayed in the worst way possible. Sadly, none of my spell books had magic that could cure me. Thankfully, it had spells that would let me get the last laugh. I had intended to possess his new girlfriend's sexy body to ruin his life by exposing every one of his secrets.

But staring down at this new, beautiful body, I realized that this newfound beauty had so much more potential than possessing Andrew’s new girlfriend. Revenge was such a stupid concept, and as a familiar warmth that I hadn't felt in months emanated from between my legs, my mind grew fuzzy with a bliss I hadn't known in a long time. I felt empowered, confident, and alive in a way I never had before.

Suddenly, a voice called out to me, and I turned to see an incredibly muscular man with brown hair and deep blue eyes running down the beach. He stopped just in front of me as I wiped the tears from my eyes. His concern was genuine, his affection palpable.

"Babe, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it." I could only stare in awe. When I felt his hand on my waist, I started smiling. Compared to my ex, this guy seemed perfect. He looked like something straight out of a magazine. "Darla?"

I bit my lower lip. "It’s fine," I said in my new voice. “I just needed time to myself.”

“Huh? Are you really alright? You seem way too calm.”

“Getting some time to myself was all I needed,” I giggled nervously. I would later learn that Darla had extreme mood swings, but with me in full control, people were going to see Darla in a new light. Taking his hand, I guided him to an empty cliffside where we could have our privacy. My heart raced, not from fear, but from anticipation and excitement.

I wanted to show him just how fine I was, and he was about to find out just how much better I was going to be as his girlfriend. I wasn't planning on going back to my old body any time soon. Feeling my new boyfriend embrace me, I decided that being Darla was my future - Andrew was a waste of time. The old me, the one who felt trapped and desperate, was now an empty body in a hospital room, and I was ready to embrace a new beginning.
