Darlene had always been close with her grandmother, Allison. They had shared countless memories together, and Darlene had always looked up to her wise and loving grandmother. So when Allison passed away, Darlene was devastated. She missed her dearly, and she longed for a way to connect with her again.

One day, Darlene heard about a local séance that promised to bring people in touch with their loved ones on the other side. She was skeptical, but she was also desperate for a way to reconnect with her grandmother. So she convinced her husband, Adam, to join her in the séance, and together, they headed to the old, creepy house of old Mrs. Richards, the woman who claimed to be able to communicate with the dead. As they sat in the dimly-lit basement, Darlene felt a mixture of fear and excitement. She held Adam's hand tightly, not sure what to expect. Across from them sat Mrs. Richards, a wrinkled old woman with piercing blue eyes. A glowing glass ball sat at the center, surrounded by roses and ashes. As she began to speak, Darlene felt a strange energy emanating from her.

Suddenly, the room began to shake, and Darlene felt a presence enter her body. She could feel her grandmother's energy coursing through her veins, and she knew that she had succeeded in reaching her on the other side. “I love you, Darlene,” an old voice croaked around them.

She felt like she blacked out upon hearing her voice. Darlene was overwhelmed with emotion, tears flowing down her face while she sobbed. But before she could wipe them away, she suddenly realized she wasn’t in control. An evil smile curled over her lips while her husband rubbed her tears away. She had spoken to her grandmother again, but something horrible was happening to her. “Thank you so much, dear,” Darlene’s lips said. “That was wonderful. I feel like I can finally move on.”

“Are you okay, Darlene? You seem kind of … happy. Happier than usual. Really quickly.”

“I guess you can say that I feel like a weight’s been lifted from my shoulders,’” Darlene’s body said with a chuckle. “Thanks for your help, Mrs. Richards. I feel a lot happier now.” Allison had somehow possessed her granddaughter during the séance. The old woman didn’t want to die, and the séance was her perfect escape from the afterlife. It was the perfect way to start over again, and it was all thanks to Darlene.
