The new presidential aircraft which the US Airforce have ordered from Boeing is being more and more delayed for every day that goes by. Whats the story behind these fascinating aircraft and WHAT is the actual problem? In todays video we will dig deep into this question and also give you some fun trivia about the worlds most famous Boeing 747´s.

Really interesting video. During my career in the Canadian nuclear industry, I was involved in a number of projects, where we had to upgrade or enhance legacy computer systems - many of them dating back to the 1970s. We were dealing with computer systems, certified to monitor and control nuclear reactors. If we weren't careful about the changes we introduced, we could cause the system to be decertified. We have had a great deal of success in maintaining "trailing age technology", but there is a special skill set required to do it right. Retrofitting an existing aircraft would be analogous to many of the projects I participated in. So I can readily appreciate the number of unpleasant surprises which the Boeing Engineers encountered. Sometimes the best option is the tried and true. Boeing Engineers undoubtedly have much more experience designing new planes, than completely redesigning an already physically existing plane.
