Hi my friends and supporters. I am still in Sweden enjoying a sunny but cold vacation. Because of that we are continuing to release one video on each channel every other week and this week it’s the NOW channel release.

This video was created to explain what the role of the new A321XLR actually is and how it might affect long-haul flying. The version of the video you will be watching is without sponsor message and U have already identified several edit mistakes that will be rectified in the public version (like 1998 instead of 1988) but feel free to point them out anyway in case me and the team missed something in our review.

As always I would love to hear what you thought about the video 💕

Have a fantastic weekend!

Are Narrow-body's the FUTURE of Long Haul Aviation?!

Get 20% discount on the yearly subscription of Brilliant by using this code 👉🏻 https://brilliant.org/MentourNow/ Thank you BRILLIANT for sponsoring todays video! During the last few years, more and more narrow-body aircraft with extreme range capabilities have appeared. In June 2022 Airbus did the first test-flight with its A321XLR which will have a range of over 4700 nautical miles. So why is this happening? Are Narrow-body's the future of long haul aviation because of its higher efficiency? As expected, its a very complicated story which I will explain to you in todays video. Enjoy! I believe there's some confusion about the definition of "vacation". 😃 Thank you and your team so much for all that you do. Very admirable and I can and have read your post for hours. 🙂🙂🙂✈️🛩🛫🛬

One issue that rarely gets discussed with long range narrowbodies, including this video, which I think is a huge blindspot is accessible restrooms. For a very long time, the ACA only required wheelchair accessible restrooms in widebodies. This means that people in wheelchairs generally cannot use the restroom in a narrowbody, which as you can imagine can be uncomfortable, embarrassing, and unsanitary. When the ACA was introduced this almost made sense, because 737 and the like were rarely used more than 2 hours. That obviously has since changed. There are amendments going into the ACA which will require accessible restroom on larger narrowbodies. However, it will only take effect on planes delivered more than 18 years from now. Given the lifespan of modern planes, this means that a huge amount of the narrowbody fleet will be inaccessible for decades. Even if one books widebodies, every person in a wheelchair can tell a horror story of their widebody being downgauged or cancelled, and facing 6+ hour flights without restroom access. Both the neo and the max are available with accessible restroom options. Without the mandate, they are not commonly selected. Jetblue, which now flies transatlantic, apparently has space for suites for business class passengers, but not an accessible restroom for those passengers. Meanwhile, spirit, which packs em in has managed to find space for an accessible restrooms on the 320 and the 321. In a world where the a321XLR starts replacing 767s and a330-200s, this would be a disaster.
