Hi my friends. I have a question I would like to hear your thoughts on.

In tonight’s video I will ge covering National Air Cargo flight 102. That’s the Boeing 747 who crashed in Afghanistan seen in the thumbnail above.

Now to my question:

We have created a video that incorporates the original dashcam video in it. We have also recreated the accident using FS2020 and could easily only use that footage.

I am having some doubts about using the real footage. It’s impossible to find the original source but almost every news-station in the world have used it and it’s widely available everywhere. Obviously it’s a video that will evoke strong emotions and it’s truly horrible to see but it’s also a very important piece of evidence which helped the investigation come to its conclusions.

Do you think I should leave the real footage in the video or should I run with simulation only? I would love to hear you motivating why or why not, in your answers.

Thank you.

I would use the video with your usual sensitivity and a viewer discretion warning to validate the simulation. Surely we would hope to never see such a tragedy but it points to the consequences of what failed in this situation.

One reason you do crash videos is to make viewers more aware of safety and consequences. Many viewers actually do have life and death aviation responsibilities and it helps to make them graphically, and not just in a simulation, aware of the. terrible consequences if they are negligent.
