One fun bit from my Thanksgiving week (hope yours were fun, too!)

Over on one of the paintball boards, some regulars were lamenting the fact that a certain part called a cup seal, for an antique marker called a Mega-Z, was no longer available, and without it, the gun wouldn't work anymore.

I have one of them, so on the 21st, I cracked it open, made some measurements of the offending part, ordered some appropriate O-rings, and when they came in on the 25th, sat down to program the lathe to make the brass part.

By the evening of the 25th, after a fair bit of trial-and-error, I had a finished prototype installed in my marker, which worked perfectly.

Doesn't make for the most exciting video, and sure isn't a product I'm gonna get rich on, but on the other hand, didn't cost me a lot of time or materials, and helps keep some classic old markers on the field. :)

Watching the swarf get pulled in a lathe like this is always cool. It always makes me wish I could get the same gear to do this myself. One day, I suppose. One day...
