The most recent milestone was to go back and finish up most of the uncolored/uninked strips- at least, as many as possible- and I specifically included the infamous lost 2006 Halloween color strip. Today's Halloween episode is, in fact, that strip!

I'd recently found the old line art, re-scanned it, reworked and updated it, just in time for it's 10th Anniversary! :)

Several of the strips (such as "Starslip") have long since ended, and in two cases- the ferret at the turntables and the slug guy- it's been so long I can't even recall the name of the strips they were originally from.

Other characters, such as Zintiel, are shown as they were originally drawn 10 years ago- from a part of their strip's storyline from 2006. :)

But, quite a few places in the original artwork were filled with simple scribbles, placeholders 'til I could refine the sketch and ink it. Several of those I've long since forgotten who I was going to originally draw, so I filled them in with more current characters.

Oh, and Kevyn and Bandit's dialogue? When the original strip was drawn, Kevyn had just been killed off in the strip "Schlock Mercenary", coming back to life on Halloween day as a zombie (and then later time-cloned. :)

Bandit's line refers to Kevy's epaulets- the hovering rank insignia. In Schlock Mercenary, his particular insignia, being a mad inventor type, were actually incredibly powerful antimatter grenades, which, as a mercenary, he carried around "just in case." :)

(It all made a little more sense back in the day. :)

I'm fairly certain that the ferret is one of the "DOOK DOOK DOOK" ferrets from Something*Positive. It would make sense for them to be DJing

You know, I think you might be right. Good catch!

My first thought when you said "ferret" was Kiki from Sluggy Freelance ☺

Update: The ferret was from a brief 2006 storyline from "Something Positive" (a DJ ferret in Hell) and the slug guy is Snug, from a strip called "Ugly Hill" (which ended in '09, and the archives are unavailable.) The strip has been updated with the corrected colors and text.

Yeah, Something*Positive's devil ferrets are almost identical in both style and design. Could be it! I bet Randy would be all over that sort of thing anyways.

Nice touch sneaking in Dan from Drugs & Wires!

I figured you would know in a matter of hours (or less) after the comic went live who the unknowns were

was it Schlock telling Gav of Kevyn dying, and coming back, and dying, and coming back again (how many times?) was hilarious,
