Sorry about skipping this weeks Swampy & Jinx update, but it was a busy, and as usual, often frustrating week, and I barely had time to get the regular strip out.

As a bit of an apology, I thought I'd dig out a piece that some of you may not have seen yet.

Quite a few years back- this one dates to 2010- I would periodically do up wallpapers for readers. (This was back when more people read the strip on desktop PCs than 'phones. :) )

Out of the dozen or so big images I did (the banner image for this page, "Sypmhony", is one of them) this one is still my favorite. Done with no tablet, just a mouse, no layers, and the same antique art program I still use today.

Took me several weeks of work to get just the way I wanted it, and I was pretty happy with how it came out.

And ever since, I've always wanted to have MechaDoc in the comic at some point. :)

Doc.

Is the resolution 900x606 or reduced patreon the quality?

Chuckle, Is that The Corkscrew Cannon on the Right Arm? ;) (Probably Not, But it Should Be :D )

Looks almost exactly like some Battletech artwork from the RPG books, just sub a Warhammer for MechaDoc and Natasha Kerensky for Pirta. :D

Cult of Dust

Wait, you were doing all that with a mouse? Also, "sypmhony"?

webkilla

oh... I'd actually like to see that - just so my 4k monitor could get a proper challenge for once :p

I can just imagine maybe using the uncompressed version for a Zoom or Teams video meeting background… “Oh that? Just something else we’re working on in the lab. It’s the new ‘Service Mech’, for those really tough jobs…” 😄 Nah, probably not. I really ought to retain a modicum of professionalism during my company meetings… At least most of the time.😉

Should loan that out to Mark Stanley. Florence could use a new challenge.

I just love it. The crazy details look amazing. Kudos on doing all that with a mouse.

VERY cool..., especially the 'hood ornament'! ;-)

You know. yes, it happens that you draw something for a long time, but you don’t get what you really want. congratulations that nevertheless your efforts were rewarded and you got what you need

Catsnightmare

Please share the rest of them with us! Some of us still use desktop computers and love wallpapers that fit a non-phone screen.

NakedSunFlower

Amazing work and even more remarkable that you drew it only with a mouse, without using a tablet...
