We haven't had an art-for-art's-sake post in entirely too long, plus, let's just say I needed to take a nice break, put on some tunes, and relax a bit. :)

This is a rework of an old book sketch from 2009. I always liked the pose and wanted to see it cleaned up and colored.

I am definitely going to have to do a beach-cookout scene in the comic sometime. :)

I'm remarkably ignorant about what goes on abroad, but I must admit that beach cook-outs aren't something I would normally associate with Alaska.

I'm *still* waiting for my Roger pin-up!

I dunno why, but the duckie kinda makes this for me. This makes me think of the background images on the main site. Hmmm . . . hey, Doc, if you're looking for ideas, it might be cool to see full-sized versions of those.

I like the image overall, but I must point out that wet fur doesn't look the same as dry fur. She's much too fluffy to have been in the water, and her tail-tip at least should be plastered and soggy looking. :) Keep up the great work, Doc!

Depends on where you are. Seaside/oceanside beach parties, not so much. :) But on an inland lake, at the height of the summer? Sure, beach parties, jet-skis, waterskiing, etc.

The background images ARE some of the old book sketches. I've got hundreds of those, including, of course, lots of cheesecake shots- although since most of them are from back around '05 to '07 or so, mainly just of Sandy and Pirta. They make an easy and fairly quick drawing since the preliminary sketch is already done.

Drawing wet fur is very time-consuming compared to the regular way. :) The original sketch was one of the original "Fanboy" sketches done in the back of TWB books (a feature we'll be bringing back once the new books launch) and as such was done fairly quickly. And here, I just "inked" over the original sketch to do a quick piece of art- I wanted to do a complete piece in one sitting, not over the course of two weeks or so like the earlier Pirta bikini shot did.

I'm sure I have a Roger or two in there... not too many 'cheesecake' shots of the guys, though. :) (I really need to get to work on the guys' line-up scene...)

Speaking of Pirta, any chance we could see the image that's going on in her head that put her "Out of Order?" (Great gag, btw.)
