Editing it down to a jacket can fix some of the clitché vibe, but the same can be said if you turn it to a vest. Granted, a vest is more as a stylish thing where the character himself looks to be more badass. Maybe keep the jacket, but a bit more of a dark green tint because the Irish thing. I dunno, I never created a character.
