Oh, those sweet Cheer Squad girls! And once again less is more. I think the two of them here read as very sculptural, rather monumental actually. This entire Millie/Tammy exclusive sequence is very intriguing in what it suggests, and what it leaves up to the viewer via the imagery…a different sort of open ended serial narrative, I think. Is it all real, or just the product of, say, Tammy’s imagination, perhaps all taking place while Millie is reading to the Cheer Squad? The dreamlike quality of the last two suggest just such a fantasy…or are the predicaments of these two the actual results of hearty birthday wishes? It’s for each viewer to decide. Lots of possibilities for interpretation that imply multiple levels of fantasy musings, both for we the viewers and for the Dames themselves. At any rate, high concept notwithstanding, these two sure look good tied up together…well done!
