From Wikipedia:

Aten (also Aton, Egyptian jtn) is the disk of the sun in ancient Egyptian mythology, and originally an aspect of the god Ra. The deified Aten is the focus of the religion of Atenism established by Amenhotep IV, who later took the name Akhenaten (died ca. 1335 BCE) in worship and recognition of Aten. In his poem "Great Hymn to the Aten", Akhenaten praises Aten as the creator, giver of life, and nurturing spirit of the world. Aten does not have a Creation Myth or family but is mentioned in the Book of the Dead. The worship of Aten was eradicated by Horemheb.

From Brandon:

I tried to capture the essence of Aten, but extend the personality in captivating ways. That includes unique eye makeup, a landscape that leads to the Nile River, and hands that transition into the stars. The model featured has chosen to remain anonymous, but was also featured in Neon City (similarly anonymous).

Hope you enjoy the art!

P.S. We had to look at a number of artifacts before realizing there is a Cobra in front of the Sun! Easy to miss as many depictions don't include it. I think it was a nice touch though.

Beautiful work Brandon! Would love to see more of Aten! The Heretic Pharaoh Akhenaten is one of my favorite pharaohs. I love the Egyptian series. Can’t wait to see more of Anubis! Are there any plans to paint Osiris, Isis, or Horus? Keep us the amazing work!
