“Living classics”

The R8 had one of the most memorable introductions ever, roaring away from the severed grille of “old luxury” in a Superbowl ad parodying a famous scene from The Godfather. While the commercial won awards and acclaim, the R8 really didn’t need any help drawing attention to itself. Fusing Lamborghini DNA with Audi aluminum, bestowed with LED-ringed headlights brooding over deep, dark air intakes, emboldened with contrasting “sideblades,” the R8 can’t help but be the center of attention. That’s what happens when a stunning concept car is translated into a production roadcar with almost no changes whatsoever. All four wheels are motivated by a highly refined 4.2-liter V8, resting under a glass cover for all to see. Despite the power and the Gallardo bits lurking under the gorgeous body, the R8 is tame and luxurious around town, like a superhero in disguise as a dapper but harmless civilian. Speaking of superheroes, the R8 4.2 was Tony Stark’s ride of choice in the hit film Iron Man.
