Content

Patreon finally made the charge up front feature publicly available.

Note: this does not affect existing pledges in any way.

With this enabled, new pledges are billed and gain access to content immediately, rather than waiting until the first of the following month.

Reasons for the change:

1. This ensures that new supporters get access right away, I've had several patron-only/tier posts including the alpha build of Valkyrie Sword (which last I could see in the dashboard still only had 1 view and no comments) that it looks like no one has had access to after pledging. I want to be sure that new supporters don't have to wait several weeks to see their benefits. I'm also planning to get the webserver/hosting back up in the next six months, and have it tied into Patreon's API so I can have another channel for delivering exclusive content and rewards, particularly the Story Universe, PSL System Notes, and general Writing Scrapbook, which are not well suited as patreon posts- they would work much better in a wiki-like environment.

2. This also prevents exploiting a bug in patreon's code that allows some fake accounts to pledge, download all the rewards/content, then delete their pledge before they are charged. I have had 2 mystery pledges that only existed for 1-3 days and vanished (one for $3 and one for $10) and I'm wondering if this was the case; I've seen quite a few artists mention having this issue, some even reported that their content was being uploaded elsewhere without permission.

What are your guys thoughts on this? Any reason you can see not to make this change? The only downside I see is if someone pledges at the end of the month, they might pay twice within a week, instead of being pro-rated.

Since we're near month's end, I'll wait until August 2 to make this change. You guys have until then to voice any objections/feedback, once the change is made it is likely permanent.
