At the next meeting, Kat was eating even more of the fat-cakes. She glared at Logan with every bite, as though daring him to remark about her weight again.
Logan was tempted.
For some reason, Logan liked the attention, negative though it was. His face neutral, he watched as Kat consumed what had to be her fifth Goop’m with exaggerated pleasure. Her slow nips and hums of pleasure were almost sexual in nature. Their colleagues watched the scene, expressions ranging from amused to offended.
Ike cleared his throat. “Erm, Pryce, do you have the quotes for the new ad rollout?”
It took a moment for Pryce to tear his attention away from Kat’s lurid display. “Right. Yeah, there was actually a bump in price, but when I spoke to Jensen…”
Logan found it difficult to pay attention. He couldn’t get over the fact that Kat was already showing, even though it had only been a month. It was odd, and Logan was certain that Kat was…different, from the others. It’s a heavy litter. Jim thought of the babies as litters sometimes, even though he knew it was insulting and animalistic to characterize people in such a way. He’d never say aloud. It was always just the word that crossed his mind. Because it was kind of animalistic, the nature of these pregnancies. Humans weren’t meant carry so many babies.
He had done a number on Kat. The woman was already fucking growing. Logan remembered how hatefully he’d fucked her. It couldn’t be twins. Probably three. No, probably more. Logan felt a thrill. That had never happened. More than three?
After what had to be her sixth pastry, Kat took a break. No one else had touched them, not even Logan. There was only one left on the plate in the center of the table, but they could always have more summoned with a wave to the secretary outside the door. Logan was tempted but held himself, instead staring fixedly at Pryce, trying to look as though he was processing some amount of the information being transferred.
But in his periphery, he watched Kat run her hand through her hair, her too-long bangs falling back in her face. She was overdue to for a haircut, but this looked good. She appeared more supple, hair thicker and brighter. She still had that pinkness to her cheeks that never seemed to fade anymore, and she looked a little flustered, a little sweaty. Still adjusting to her sharp increase of calorie consumption.
Kat shifted a little, uncomfortable in her seat. Then, despite herself, she reached for the last pastry, and Logan knew it wasn’t just to spite him. It was because Kat was truly craving it. Kat saw fatty food and hadto stuff it into his face. Logan wondered if she was becoming as addicted as the rest of their consumers were. That would be amusing. Working here, Kat would find no shortage of snacks.
Kat scarfed down the last pastry more efficiently than the others, perhaps finally a little embarrassed about her display of gluttony. Logan could see where her motivations had subtly shifted from facetious to pure greed. And Kat had realized it as well. Hence, the sudden awkwardness.
Kat covered her mouth, her eyes widening, and Logan heard the faint belch under Turner’s monotonous prattling. Fortunately for Kat, no one else seemed to hear it. Kat pressed her lips, twisting them to the side as she, too, pretended to focus on the meeting.

Logan’s secretary was pregnant. Well loved as Elizabeth was, everyone at the office was continually looking for ways to coddle her. Throwing a baby shower wasn’t a question, it was just a matter of when, how much, and coordinating gifts.
Logan watched Elizabeth’s surprised face and teary eyes as everyone cheered when she stepped into the break room. She shook her head. “You guys!” she chided, to rapturous laughter and applause.
Pregnant people turned Logan on. Always had. And for the past several months, gazing at Elizabeth had done it for him during particularly long conference calls. But for some reason things had abruptly gone dry in terms of his appreciation of her. He appraised the woman, dressed cutely in a loose pink maternity top and some white dress pants, her long hair tied back in an elegant fishtail braid. She was always so tidy, composed, so impeccably neat. Her perfectly painted red lips and her faint purple eyeshadow. She was beautiful both naturally and through effort, not a hair out of place, not an eyelash deprived of shining mascara.
Then Kat walked in. She looked fatigued, uncomfortable, and even a little unsettled. Usually cool and slender, she was wearing a pencil skirt and an ill-fitting white blouse which was visibly tight at the bump.
The bump.
Logan felt his breathing go thinner.
The bump seemed a little bigger every time Logan saw it. It was really testing the cotton now, really straining the buttons. Kat hadn’t upgraded to a larger size, probably determined to lose the new weight.
She was in for a surprise.
Logan didn’t know why but it was so, fucking, hot. Maybe it was because Logan had done it to her personally. Maybe it was the thought of the deeds that gotten Kat in this state. Maybe it was just the burden, knowing that every moment Kat was struggling with her increasing girth, it would be because she had spread her legs for Logan, and soon she would know it. There was only so long she could avoid the issue at hand. Soon Kat would have to accept what Logan had done to her.
Kat was carrying a massive stuffed bear that was practically bigger than she was. She was always such a suck-up, always desperate for any shred of approval she could get. Elizabeth gave a squeal of delight as she hurried to embrace Kat. Logan watched their torsos press together and noted how Kat was rapidly catching up to Elizabeth’s size despite that the secretary was months ahead of her. Elizabeth was about five months in.
“Well what are you waiting for? Dig in.” Kat grinned as she motioned to the cake and snacks covering the table, most of them Boddims products.
“Oh my gosh, keep those away from me,” Elizabeth joked back. “I’ll be a blimp by the time this whole thing is over!”
Kat snorted.

Even throughout the day, Logan could see Kat indulging in the various free snack products that could be found around the office. The freebies lost their appeal to most after a week or so of employment, and admittedly, limitless offerings of fat-cakes wasn’t that lucrative of an employee benefit. But Kat had gone in the opposite direction of most. Her love for the product had been revitalized…or just come into being.
It was usually all for show: sucking up to their overseers, commending the product as cuisine rather than processed, factory-made junk. But now Kat was becoming truly obsessed with them. She was becoming another addicted consumer, with pregnancy to compound things. One afternoon, Logan even saw Kat rummaging in a supply closet, looking for more Goop’ms after the executive lounge had run out.
And it was only the beginning.
-
Logan was late to the meeting.
He was disappointed, not because his colleagues and superiors frowned on the act. No, he was disappointed to have missed Kat walk in. It had become ritual, to arrive way too early, sit back, and discreetly enjoy things.
Kat used to arrive early as well. Not these days.
She was off her game. Tired and scatterbrained. Her efforts to triumph Logan in these small, passive aggressive ways, were futile now when Logan was rearranging his whole schedule, getting work done preemptively. No, this was ludicrous, so for once, Kat caved.
And Logan got to enjoy the sight of the progress every time Kat walked into the meeting room. Seated at the table, Logan got a full view of Kat’s torso. He could appraise the curve of Kat’s belly and see if it had grown. See if her clothes were fitting her a little more tightly. Or how her buttons were straining a bit more. It would be the highlight of Logan’s day, then Kat would sit down, and the evidence of their babies would disappear beneath the table.
Today, unfortunately, Logan missed out. Kat was already comfortably seated when he arrived. Smith halted mid-sentence and Logan threw an apologetic grimace. The meeting continued as Logan hurriedly took a seat and unpacked his briefcase.
He couldn’t help throwing glances, despite himself.
“Last month revenues…” Smith blathered.
Kat was fiddling with her pen.
“Stock shortages…”
Kat looked a bit uncomfortable, a bit uneasy. Maybe she was starting to suspect something.
“The charity campaign, its good publicity…”
Kat sneezed. It took effort for Logan to keep his gaze fixed ahead, on Smith, as the middle-aged executive droned on.
“Sorry,” Kat whispered apologetically.
Something was different about her that day. It had been niggling at Logan for several minutes until he realized it in the corner of his eye.
On her small breasts, Kat’s nipples seemed…pointier. Puffy, Logan supposed. They were visibly sticking out in her top. That was certainly new.
“We can market to pregnant people,” Logan said.
Everyone swiveled around to look at him. Logan knew he was blushing. Smith had asked for any ideas for the next advertising campaign, and Logan had blurted the suggestion without really thinking.
There was a pause as everyone continued to stare at him.
“I like it,” Kat said. “A late-night craving. A treat for the baby. It could work. We can get some chubby preggos hooked,” she joked, deriving chuckles from the others.
“Johnson, your wife is knocked up. She like the product?”
“Hell no, she doesn’t go near that crap.”
Everyone burst into laughter.
“Luckily, Mrs. Johnson isn’t necessarily our target demographic,” Kat noted. “We stock Goop’ms in the cookie aisle, not next to the artisanal jams at the farmers market.”
Johnson scoffed and everyone fell into chuckles and banter until Turner called over them, “Why not? Let’s give it a try.”
Logan knew of at least one pregnant woman who was quite fond of Goop’ms. “I really think we have something here,” he said with a smile.
-
Kat pulled Logan aside after the meeting. “I wanted to apologize for being such a bitch to you lately.”
Lately? More like always.
“Don’t worry about it,” Logan responded, maintaining his professional smile. He kept his eyes trained on Kat’s face.
“Let’s have each other’s backs going forward.”
This was a strategy. It made sense. Kat was tired, she was losing momentum, and couldn’t keep up anymore. She wanted to mitigate the potential damages by trying to force Logan into some vague truce.
Kat straightened her posture, stretching her back a little, and Logan finally allowed his gaze drop. He looked at her bulging stomach, the blouse practically pasted to it. Her bellybutton looked a little more shallow somehow, or maybe Logan was just wishing it.
Kat followed his gaze and huffed. “And you’re right, I need to cut back on the fat-cakes.”
“Hey, don’t let anyone hear you talking about the product like that,” Logan joked.
“Everyone knows they’re a pinch of salt away from poison.”
As Kat walked off, Logan realized that the smile he was wearing was genuine. And he noticed the heat pooling low in his stomach, the way it always did when Kat was around.
There was no denying that Kat turned him on. It drove him nuts, this combination of hatred and attraction. But it was always the same. It was inevitable. And Logan needed to keep it together.
He knew the rules, and he always followed them. He could look, but not touch. He could manage that, at least. There was too much guilt and shame there. Look, don’t touch, that was the policy. Avoid complicating things any further.
-
Logan was late again the next day. Maybe he was the one who was falling apart.
He hadn’t slept much the night before. There’d been a lot of dreams of, of rather amorous things.
And despite attending the meeting, Logan wasn’t really there. Anytime the conversation was directed towards him, he strung together a vague, noncommittal response. A few others seemed to realize that he wasn’t paying attention, some throwing him looks. Kat finally peered at him with narrowed eyes, and for a beat she had that predatory look about her, the one she wore when Logan was weak. When Kat could tear him to pieces.
But then Kat glanced away, and any glimpse of the predator was replaced with that fidgety nerviness. She was prey now.
“Okay, that wraps things up. Thank you all for coming.” Roth closed out the meeting.
Then Kat stood.
Oh…god.
Logan wasn’t sure what had occurred between yesterday and now, but Kat had popped. Her belly was rounder, fuller, even her bellybutton bulging out. She just looked pregnant.
Of course, there was potential for denial. Kat was looking troubled, biting her lip, folding her arms, kind of trying to hide it. Through the shuffling of papers and pleasantries, she met Logan’s eyes.
Oh, Logan was done for.
