Melissa was getting massive.

She tried to enjoy every aspect of the pregnancy that she could. The food cravings, the shopping, and preparation of the nursery, or sometimes just sitting in a comfortable place and murmuring to her little ones, feeling as they responded to the sound of her voice. She was thoroughly enjoying everything about her condition.

But she was also growing and growing with no sign of slowing down.

Her belly far outspanned all her other limbs. It was just huge, and if her calculations were correct—and they usually were—the mound had gotten to be heavier than the rest of her body. At this rate, things were bound to get complicated, the rapidly increasing pressure and tension getting rather concerning.

She was just getting gigantic, the burden soon proving a considerable strain even for an android such as herself.

She could feel herself slowing down, her weight impeding her normally fluid movements until she could merely waddle. In another few days it was a true struggle just to get out of bed in the morning. Her belly was a huge globe, practically pinning her to the spot. As enhanced as her body had become, it seemed to be no match for her growing offspring.

Melissa attempted to get up again one day but made no progress, instead feeling a bit squashed, as though she was but squirming against a crushing weight—which, admittedly, she was. Every effort she made to heave herself off the bed proved futile. Her belly was just too large.

"Oh my," she murmured of her unique dilemma.

As awkward as it was, she couldn't deny her continual amazement of how fertile she was. Melissa was extremely rational, to an admittedly synthetic degree. Rather than starting to panic, she decided to put in a call to a few neighbors.

Mrs. Smith came over with groceries, and Diane Grady brought in the mail and tidied up the house. Paloma Erickson cooked dinner and did Melissa's hair. Soon Melissa's house was crowded with neighbors, friends, and well-wishers who arrived one after the next, often bringing gifts or food with them.

Melissa couldn't have been happier. She felt like a queen. Even in bed she had been propped upright and surrounded by flowers, balloons, and delicious snacks. But it was a celebration of life. Her massive pregnancy would not be treated like an illness. Her sheer issues with mobility were a testament of how perfect her body was; how much life one being was able to produce despite so many modifications. This was truly her life's greatest work.

There was scarcely a moment that Melissa wasn't surrounded by people looking at her in awe.
Little Sandy Garrison was there. She jumped back when Melissa massive’s belly gave a tremor. Melissa couldn't help the laugh that escaped her throat.

Sandy cutely gathered her bearings. She swallowed deeply. "Can I—can I touch it?" she asked.

Melissa smiled and nodded. "Go right ahead."

Sandy carefully laid a small, tremulous hand against Melissa mountainous stomach. A baby squirmed right against the little girl's palm, and Sandy's face broke into a grin. "I can feel the baby moving!" She announced delightedly.

There was some murmuring amongst the surrounding adults, all of whom were staring at Melissa's abdomen in awe.

Mrs. Smith cleared her throat. "Actually Melissa, do you mind if I..." she trailed off.

Melissa smiled and reached down, pushing the sheets away so that her full, bare belly was exposed where it gently heaved up and down above her torso. "Go right ahead," she encouraged. "Everyone can have a feel if you want."

People were all too keen to take her up on that, a multitude of hands descending to lay against Melissa's warm, bare skin. People murmured and giggled as they felt the movements. A few soon after pulled away, but many just lingered, maintaining contact, or stroked Melissa's soft skin. Others clamored for their turn to feel Melissa's belly.

Melissa felt like a goddess. This was just surreal and beautiful, and she hardly deserved it. All she had ever wanted to do was innovate; to study. Now she was bringing an abundance of life to the world and it was a dream she had only just realized.
