Yeah this movie also really tore me up. I think this movie did dip like Kung Fu Panda 3 did, but I would say they only dipped a little bit. It told the story it needed to tell, and brought the core development to a very touching and human place. Letting go doesn't neccesarily mean you can't love anymore, but being able to live without them in your present life. But once you make a connection that true, I think even when letting go, they will always stay with you. I think it has to. Connections like that mean too much, between a pet or just another person, to be let go. But hot damn, that doesn't stop it from being painful 😅 Now that you've seen them both Greg, yeah I still think Kung Fu Panda is the better trilogy of the 2. This trilogy was about connection with others, parenting, maturing, and loss. But Kung Fu Panda tackles those things as well lol. For me, the personal relation to Kung Fu Panda being about coming of age yourself and growing to be better, was so perfectly done. But How To Train Your Dragon is truly special and I'm so happy you guys checked these out. ❤️

I would say the comparison to the Kung Fu Panda trilogy is very on-point, but I would still say The Hidden World was a better entry than Kung Fu Panda 3 because with The Hidden World, I never felt pulled out of the movie, whereas Kung Fu Panda 3's tonal shifts pulled me out frequently until the third act. Regardless though, phenomenal films.
