you dont need to watch the whole serie to love these friends, just season 1 or 2 and youll love them.

you’re def right this kind of nonstop humor really works in 15-20 min episodes best. and i think growing up watching those made the transition to the movie easier

I think the main issue with this movie is that it was made specifically for fans of the show and potentially their parents, not really universal viewing and especially not for people not familiar with the main aspects of the series. Which, financially was fine because of how obscenely popular it was, but it relies on a LOT of assumption in regards to characterization and world-building. It touches on it, but you guys most likely had no idea about the complexity of the relationships of all the characters that were involved, other than the big time celebrity appearances. There's major history and a complexly interwoven web of motivations, insecurities, conflicts, and friendships that add much context to what is otherwise a straightforward rehash of Campbell's Hero's Journey.

I am kinda shooketh that you both went into this without any prior knowledge of the source material (other than Greg knowing the iconic opening song) buuuut daaaaamn that was so much fun to watch the both of you react to this movie but I do hope you'll give the show a glance (on your own time) just for a slightly better understanding or insight because this movie came out in 04' but the show premiered in 99' so to me the movie will always feel different than the vibe of the show as the years went on and Spongebob holds a special place in my heart because I've watched it with so many of my family I mean first I watched it myself (when it premiered) and then my uncle started to watch it with me and then I showed it to my cousin who watched it with me and (now years later at 34) I'm watching it again currently with my 9 year old nephew and funnily enough now tonight with you guys with the movie 😅 this show and it's characters have brought me so much joy and laughter in my life and I will always take time out of my day for Spongebob so thank you for reacting to this I really enjoyed every second of it because memory lane is my favourite lane to go down lol ❤️❤️❤️

I get why some folks can't do the rapid fire comedy, but the SpongeBob movie trilogy is honestly one of my all time favorites because it's just so wildly off-the-wall and honestly harmless humor that leaves me feeling good!
