I always liked the first one more. It feels more fluid and not jumpy crazy all over the place as the second that being said ghost rider looks badass in the second one.

They weren't redoing the origins at all. So this is exactly how it was from the comics, for one. But also we never really got origins to the Ghost Rider itself in the first movie. Zarathos was always the demon inside Johnny. The horror elements were extremely effective this movie. Like when Carrigan was aiming at him with the Javelin, the Rider was scrambling the sight and was not accurate, like a ghost in a camera. Same with when he was circling in the air when he got hit by the flashbang. Not everything needs to be a power, Tara 😅 lots of it was for the horror aesthetic and it was honestly perfect. Nicholas Cage captured perfectly how Johnny spends half his time trying to fight off Zarathos. I love those moments of the Rider saying just terrifying things and being so malicious over him killing the wicked. Like the old man he stared down in the first fight scene where he just said "Hungry." That's so unsettling. In the comics, Ghost Rider is one of the strongest characters out there. He's absolutely demolished Doctor Strange, World War Hulk couldn't stop him, plus he's battled Mephisto while in Hell, where he's at his strongest. (Something about Mephisto is that he literally has fought Galactus, and their battles destroyed stars and shook the Universe as a byproduct, and Ghost Rider beat him) Plus, the blue fire is a signature of Zarathos. So normally when Johnny is the Rider, he's semi in control along with Zarathos. But, sometimes if the fight gets to be too much or he gets pissed off enough, Zarathos can completely take control from Johnny. Thats when the blue fire comes and no one else is home. That's why I was floored with how scary they made him this movie. I'm really itching for Marvel to bring in the more supernatural, dark elements, especially hellish beings like Ghost Rider.
