A solid start to the new season!  Definitely harkening back to some of the wilder, more madcap tones of the earlier (new) series, while also bringing some quality creeps, spooks, and atmosphere.  Excited for whatever's next in this mini-series event!!

I don't have much, or any to say about this kinda bland episode... But... John, Greg, we are now 8 episodes away from being up-to-date with Doctor Who and having to wait together for the 60th anniversary! So... Any chances of you guys doing a reaction to the "An Adventure In Space and Time" "documentary" about the creation of Doctor Who, with David Bradley portraying William Hartnell, who portrayed the First Doctor? There's also episodes of spin-offs with the doctor present: * Episodes 5 and 6 of Series 3 of The Sarah Jane Adventures (Death of the Doctor) is a 2-parter 30-min episodes with David Tennant's 10th doctor. * Episodes 5 and 6 of Series 4 of The Sarah Jane Adventures (The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith) is a 2-parter 30-min episodes with Matt Smith's 11th doctor. *Episode 1 of the only season of "Class" (For Tonight We Might Die) is a 50-min episode with Peter Capaldi's 12th Doctor. Also, all of them are pretty stand alone from what i can remember!

After 13 seasons I’m still holding out hope for Torchwood reactions once up to date as that should take us past the 60th and after the Christmas special with Ncuti and then it will be a shorter wait in between this series and series 14

Back to the full length. This was the first time a long while that I was properly excited by the potential of a new series. I loved the idea of a mini series and thought that would play better to Chibnal's minor writing strengths. Giving the characters more time to breath within a singular story. I think the original plan was for it to be a slightly longer series. So that explains the whiplash ending that you will need a neck brace after watching. The narrative composition is an unfortunate byproduct of the situation. There were some other series issues, but this was a strong opener.
