i totally get where you're coming from with this series. but i personally disaree. this is my 3rd favourite series within new who, and for me the main relationship of the series is that between the doctor and missy. i'm actually quite glad that for once the companion ain't that important – nor is the doctor the centre of the world to the companion. this series also really just solidifies 12th's arc for me; yes, the Doctor's dynamic with Clara was better, but here 12 is at his best to me. i also think the writing is solid throughout the series and it's very rewatchable. plus, what really makes it a favourite of mine are these 3 last episodes (counting the special) which is one of my absolutely favourite Doctor Who stories of all time.
