This an amazing film. but I don't think it's one I want to watch again. I think I might just skip to the review

Thank you Greg for your eloquent humanity 🙏🏾 Always grateful for those with enough fortitude to allow themselves to feel discomfort and not turn away.

I love this movie, and it's a masterpiece, but my god, it's brutal to watch. The person at the end who left the rose and then was standing at the grave alone was Liam Neeson. I did an extensive essay on the holocaust in high school and watched this movie as part of my research. In my mind, this movie should be required viewing. Everyone should watch it at least once. This movie is famous for having pieces of real footage mixed in with the movie shots. It's unsettling, but I'm able to recognize some of the footage that was real. In the scene where the bodies are being dumped into the mass graves and everything is being burned (the same scene you were talking about when Schindler saw the little girl with the red coat dead) some of the footage is real. In the later scene where the prisoners are running around the yard in the nude being tested whether they are healthy or sick. Some of that is real. If you watch, paying attention to when the footage isn't as clear, where it's a little grainy, those are the real parts. A few other facts: The scene with the hinge-maker the guards were trying to shoot is famous, including the fact that two guns jammed. But it is famous for the fact that it really happened. The guns jammed, so he lived. The real life survivor who experienced it has talked about it in interviews. The scene on the train where the women are putting blood on their cheeks was a real thing. Prisoners would sometimes make themselves bleed and rub it on their cheeks so that they would look healthier an get sorted into the working line instead of being sent to the gas chambers.. It's wild to think that the part where the teeth are dumped out while everything is being sorted makes the Nazis feel like mustache twirling villains. You see it, and you think who does that? But that really happened. They took everything from the Jews, even the fillings out of their teeth. Even after all the research I did, the whole idea of the holocaust feels incomprehensible to me. It's so horrific that it's almost hard to believe it really happened, that humanity could have let it happen. It makes you ask how did we get here, you know? Truly great reaction. I hope you'll react to Dances with Wolves. It's another wonderfully done movie with a beautiful story and a powerful message.

Probably the most important film ever made. Something that I think should be shown in History class in every school. Won 7 Academy Awards, including: Best Picture, Best Director, Screenplay, Score, Editing, Cinematography and Art Director.

I cried with you. In High School, we were shown this film. But this first time saw as an adult. And I’d forgotten most of it. Powerful. Masterpiece. Creatively, I recognize the cinematography to carry the full weight of the narrative now, I couldn’t have as a teen. Should be required viewing in all schools. Breathtaking.

Oh and yes!! Ralph Fiennes is AMAZING. Piercing. I fell in love with his talent in English Patient, which he made late 90s, won Academy Award. You have not seen that you must!
