It's been such a long time since I watched this one, and I needed a distraction from the Brazilian elections (scary aftermath to a good result, is all) so this was well timed, thank you so much! You did make a very innocuous joke that accidentally triggered one of my dw pet peeves re: fandom discussion of the Capaldi era, so pls forgive this small rant: Obv this episode is muuuch better than Kill The Moon, but the difference between Clara and Bill's reactions is not accidental or a reflection on the differences between their characters, it's the Doctor who is different. The parallel seems very intentional; it's trying to show that he's grown since s08. Clara gave him that dressing down for leaving her alone and for being condescending enough to not even ask what she wanted from him before he just...abandoned her to make this huge decision about that stupid-ass moon egg. Here he stays, and he asks Bill, "What are your orders, boss?" He's forgotten Clara and what he felt for her but not what they did together, so character development hasn't been erased. In fact, since the holiday specials, the show has been giving him situations to deal with that mirror Twelve's earlier eps to show how he's changed. It's one of the things many of this era's fans appreciate about it, so do keep an eye out for that; it might enhance your enjoyment. Again, thank you for this watch along.

Just in case your not aware one of Rosie’s brilliant facts mentioned a big finish story. These are the doctor who extended universe audio dramas made by the big finish production company with one of the executive producers being the voice of the Daleks, Nicholas Briggs. They feature stories with the full cast of returning actors for old doctors and companions. Some now famous faces have appeared in them including Benedict Cumberbatch. The canon of these stories are disputed at times but with the night of the doctor the eighth doctor regeneration story into the war doctor some of his big finish companions were explicitly mentioned canonising at least the 8th and some 6th doctor big finish stories. If you haven’t seen night of the doctor watch it on YouTube it’s amazing.
