One of the reasons I think some people don't like TLoK are the mature themes...that are reflective of our society. The more realistic the themes the more people clash with them I think. It's very easy to rally behind "stop the fire nation". That being said some of the weaknesses of the show haven't really percolated yet. But overall I think Korra is still great.

For the big “waiting for the show to suck” thing, I don’t think you two will ever really feel that. The things that people really, really hate are the changes that you both tend to welcome and enjoy. The one thing that is of note and y’all may experience, is that unlike the first shows ramping up with each season, Korra’s seasons are fairly distinct from each other, and that includes in quality. Personally I enjoy them all, even if some are weaker than others, but I know that inconsistency bothers some people a lot. Granted, I think they tend to also give the previous show a pass on some of its own growing pains.
