As the rules go, I don't think you forget the existence of The Silence, you're just forgetting the particular encounter. They've already devised the means to remember The Silence – markings, voice messages, hologram etc. Those allowed them to learn themselves what The Silcense are while not actually see them. That's why they understand what happened when they see markings on their bodies. PS. And to why they don't immediately pursue the death od the Doctor. It doesn't happen for the next 200 years, they literally have time to figure it out ;)

I love the design of the silence being a generic alien 👽. It shows that we have seen them and been influenced to draw them like that. The resolution to this two parter is sooo good IMO. Using the silence’s influence on humanity against them is awesome asfff. And to use the moon landing too, is just a great way to incorporate the setting to the resolution.

A lot of the rules is just "convenience."

Hey! That's a good question about how the forgetting works. It's not asking why isn't blue red. or why isn't a coin square, or why isn't Matt Smith David Tennant haha Basically IMO they fucked up or gave up with the memory and it annoyed me too, just being honest, but something I learned with WHO is don't apply loads of loads of logic to it. Its about a pimp bow tie wearing alien who occasionally shapeshifts, time travelling in a tiny blue police box.

2021-11-30 21:22:42 The way I understand it is that when you can no longer see them, that specific encounter is "edited" out of your memory (at least until you see one again), but you still remember their existence. The Doctor says that information related to them seems to fade over time if it's not refreshed, but I don't think we ever see how long that takes. I remember Steven Moffat saying that in his mind the Doctor has encountered the Silence numerous times before, but doesn't remember it, which is an idea I like a lot. For the specific moment where River still remembers them to be able to shoot the one behind her - they are still surrounded by dead Silence at that point, so I reckon she can still see them. I also think, yeah, probably a few of them have been killed by humans over the centuries, but no one has ever been able to remember it to tell anyone else about it. This (very-clever-but-also-pretty-horrifying-if-you-think-about-it-too-much) plan only works because SO MANY people are watching the moon landing, and will watch it in the future. It will take probably years to get rid of them all (though we don't know how many are actually on Earth I guess.) The leftover bodies is a great point. I bet Torchwood took care of it 😂 I reckon that ship on James Corden's house was intended to be one of theirs (at least retroactively) - the Doctor says when he sees the one in this episode that he's seen one before, I always assumed that's what he was referring to. On Amy & Rory - I can completely understand that Rory still might not be *entirely* confident in Amy loving him the way he loves her, I really do think that makes sense, those insecurities don't just go away. But I do remember being SUPER frustrated at the time with how much it seemed like they were nudge-nudge, wink-winking to the possibility of Amy being pregnant with the Doctor's baby. It just felt SO STUPID. Even her little "Why do you think?" when he asked why she didn't tell Rory. It still really annoys me 😂 I love the little chat Rory & the Doctor have about Rory's memories of being the Last Centurion. I like their slightly complicated relationship a lot, I wish we got moments like that more often.

This is a British show, so just do as the British do when we don't understand something. Just smile and nod :D
