An iconic episode! So dark and haunting. They pull off the horror so well and the moral dilemma. Something about controlling other’s bodies and forcing them to move how you want is so sinister. You can see how bloodbending would be useful in the right hands against a threat, but it’s also a slippery slope if it falls into the wrong hands. It’s one of those things that’s it’s like, “Better not to use it at all.” The writers also did a good job of making you feel for Hama while also finding her actions wrong. When she was in the prisons, it was understandable that she used bloodbending because she was facing cruel punishment, and if she hadn’t escaped, maybe even death. But now she’s just using it against people who haven’t committed any wrongs against her or threatened her. Glad you guys loved it!

Greg you’re thinking of Hansel and Gretel when the witch invites the kids into her home and then eats them

I'm not sure if this episode actually came out on Halloween or not but I i'm pretty sure it came out in October

This episode was so good, I chose to write a paper on it in my Freshman year. Up until this episode came out, bloodbending was just a hypothetical concept that they would never introduce because of how dark it is. But once they did reveal bloodbending was possible, it was a game changer. Between Toph inventing metalbending, and Katara learning bloodbending, and seeing Azula and Iroh bend lightning, Combustion Man, stuff like that expands the imagination and the concept of bending. This is a top 10 episode for sure.

I would say that what made Harma's actions particularly messed up was that she was going after unarmed civilians not military people & as Sokka pointed out to Jet when they first met taking out your pain on innoscent people just because they happen to come from the nation that hurt you has nothing to do with justice.

The production of this episode is so incredible! One of the top 10 episodes of the series for sure. They made all of the right choices in emphasizing the creepy intensity, and complexity of the topic.

Bloodbending is just disgusting to me in every way and everything about it feels wrong. No matter how many times I watch this, I still cringe and close my eyes a lot. I can barely even look when they do it to animals...
