While I’m not one of those who was saying this episode is worse than the previous one, I don’t enjoy it much either. I mean, it’s fine but it’s a “watch once” episode. I don’t like “found footage” episodes- the shaky, dodgy camera work just annoys me - and unlike you, I didn’t really care about any of the 3 leads, so there was nothing to make up for the marginalisation of Sam and Dean (as there was in the Bobby episode), but it was interesting for once to see Sam and Dean from the ‘monster’s POV. I also enjoyed the descent from the initial euphoria to ending horror, and thought that part of the story was well told. Anyway, fun to see you having a good time with it. Especially when you got to the moment we realise that she’s supposed to have edited it! 😂😂😂 I guess perhaps we can assume that nerdy friend had done most of it, and she just added the final chapter?

As I said last week, I really appreciate the change in structure for this episode. I also found the actors to be engaging as well. I do acknowledge there are some cliche elements to it, but for a single episode, Robbie wrote a really good episode here.

This episode isn't a favorite of mine either, but I'm not one that doesn't like it. Sometimes tv shows that focus on technologies that existed when it was made can really seem dated given how quickly technology evolves these days, but this one isn't too bad. I do agree with the silliness of all the camera and editing work, though. MOTW episodes have always told the audience something relevant about Sam and Dean and are used as a vehicle to push a certain narrative - this one isn't any different, and will make a lot more sense as the season progresses. But this one in particular is layered in a way that becomes very meta. The elephant in the room that becomes the monster in our relationships.

This is one of the 3 episodes I always skip when doing a rewatch

I think part of why I appreciate this episode is because I really enjoy horror anthologies and this plays like an anthology episode tucked in a season of Supernatural. And it’s refreshing to have the perspective flipped as we see how Dean and Sam appear from the monster’s POV. I also like how Dean is relaxing his hard stance on “if it’s a monster, I kill it”. We’ve seen a hint of it with Benny, but it’s a significant level of growth for his character.

Good news is, only up from here on out! The next 8 episodes in a row are really great! Then there’s a few more middling episodes that aren’t bad...just a little flat. Then leads up to my legit favorite finale episode

This is always a skip episode for me.

His attitude changed all the way back in the vampire episode where they met Gordon. His hard line since then has been whether they’ve killed humans. If they have, then for him, that’s it. But if they haven’t, he might give them a chance.

“Agents Rose and Hudson.” Axl Rose and Saul Hudson aka Slash 🤘

Sam and dean emotional needs are being represented and filled by benny and amelia. So try to think about what exactly those are. The handyman role sam is playing represented something.

I remember when this episode first aired, about 95% of the fandom absolutely hated it. I was in the other 5%. Yeah it's far from perfect, but honestly it kept me entertained for the entire episode. I thought the three actors in the main roles were cast really well and did a great job carrying the episode. So, pretty much I'm on the same page as you guys.
