I'm sorry, but Gabi really isn't doing for me, yeah I know she's a kid and she was brainwashed and all that, but here's the thing, so did Falco! so did Reiner! Falco is in the same class of candidates, he received the same amout of military training, same amout of propaganda lessons, yet Falco is still a soldier but manages to think logically in their current situation, he also tries to challenge his belives and see the holes in the propaganda, Gabi is just thick headed, she doesn't even hear herself what she's saying, she just repetes the words she was thought in nazi school without ever understanding it. I see 3 trajectories for her character, and I don't like any of them: 1) She will "see the light" and the show will try to make her sympathizing to us, which here's how you do the bad/detestable character becoming good story (in my opinion): they need to have a good excuse for why they are the way they are (which as I explained myself early, she doesn't), they need a trigger thing to set them to the other side, and the character needs show atleast a glimpse of a likable trait (which she has non). I can belive in a Reiner good turn, even if I don't fully trust Zeke I can still belive in his good turn. 2) Gabi is still stubborn and will do something stupid that will kill herself, and probably Falco in the process. 3) And this is actually the one I'm putting my money on: Gabi does something stupid, Falco ends up dead, she's captured again, Marley invades, Reiner rescues Gabi and brings her back safely to Marley, because the show isn't shy to remined us that life is cruel and it isn't fair!😝 Sorry had to get that out of my system.😂 Having said all that, can't wait for next ep, and all out war again!!

Nah it'd pretty unrealistic to me that Falco, out of thousands or hundreds of thousands, of Eldians is as well rounded as he is. Reiner was like Gabi. He only changed because he lived with them for so many years. And even then, he is still intent on going to war with them despite his doubts, Gabi, to me, is a lost child soldier. It's hard to overwrite brainwashing and propaganda. The fact that Falso has been so open minded to me has been a stretch fitted to the plot, nothing else. So holding him as an example is not a good point in my opinion. Gabi is slowly progressing at a good pace compared to most people IRL who would've been brainwashed. The show is already rushing along as it is so it's crazy to me that people think Gabi is just ebing a stubborn bitch. She's a 15-ish year old girl. Falco SHOULD be like her too. She's more realistic than Falco, even if he did hear Eren's talk with Reiner.

Well you made a good point of view, but my opinion comes from no prior knowledge of psychosis, so all I'm going off of is what I see in the show. I don't intend to make this a long discussion thread so I'll just say that I'm still holding to my point, but regardless of that, if you endjoy her, good! will she ruin the final few eps of the show for me? no! there's too much great things that AoT offers, for me to get stuck on one little thing that I don't like is silly.

I think we may also ccnsider the environnement they both grew up in. Aside from their own character were Falco is naturally a gentle soul. Falco grew up in a family were he had an uncle who were part of the patriots. Gaby like Reiner were not only brainwahsed by the Marleyans but also by their own famlly from a young age. Reiner managed to see both side only when he went to the island. For me They're both victims and it should makes us reflect on what went on and what is still going on in our real history with the nazis, fascits and terrorists of all sorts. it has been documented that nazis put children to war just like Gabi and they were the most violent, brutal, not willing to give up even at the end of WWII.

this is nearly 2 years old so sorry for such a late reply but yes I agree with what you guys are saying completely. I never had hate for Gabi at any point, and was frustrated at people who so blindly hated her and were unable to see the reason for her character being the way she is. She grew up in an extremely zealot household. Reiner's mom (as established in 4x2) is a super zealot and basically head of the whole household, which is Reiner and Gabi grew up so anti-Paradis thinking their devils the propaganda says they are. Reiner showed signs of this hate way more than other warriors, and only changed because he had to go undercover, and that literally broke him. That's why he's the only one who lost his mind, because he was so far to one side that he realized Paradis wasn't what he thought. Gabi is in the same mental state of absolutely hating Paradis because that's how she was raised. What I find interesting that I never see anyone say is she wasn't even this insane initially, she was super level-headed, calculated and strong when we met her in 4x1. She became the way she was here because of what Eren's attack did to her mentally (which also fucked Eren up in a similar way when his home was attacked). Her mind broke down to her hate for Paradis and Eren and only solidified the propaganda she grew up with. She lost rational thought and turned to being a zealot because of how insanely traumatic the attack and seeing Udo and Zofia die infront of her was. You can even see how hard she tries to distance herself from the "evil Eldians" by lashing out at Falco when he tries to tell her to remove the armband. In contrast in 4x1 she's the one who came up with the idea of removing it to go briefly undercover. The Gabi of 4x1 would have agreed with Falco. She clings to the armband because she wants to be associated as far away with the Paradis Devils as possible, and removing the armband would make her feel like one of them; she reverts to her brainwashing as a way to prove to herself and others that she's a good Eldian. And about the scene where she slaps Sasha's mother's hand away and is freaking out at having to eat their food, that's her losing her mind because what she thinks she knows about the Devils of Paradis is in complete contrast to how nice Sasha's family is being to her, and she has no idea how to handle it. Her ideals are completely being challenged in a way she never expected and doesn't know how to deal with so she's losing her mind.
