this is years old now, but i just wanted to say im really enjoying this series. Ive watched this show so many times, and these early episode are seeped in so much nostalgia for me, its really interesting and fun to see a fresh take on it! Like, i never noticed the pacing or editing on the episode lmao. great reaction <3

I feel like it's easy to instinctively get offended when someone criticizes something you like but I adore Martha Jones so much you basically could say "this episode was hot garbage" and I'd be cool with it as long as you ended with "but Martha was great though"

I actually love when you guys like an episode I don't, it always makes it more entertaining and gives a new perspective. When you're not sold on an episode I like that's also pretty interesting too though, although usually those ones aren't my favourites anyway. I don't really watch these to see you react the same way I did, although I feel like we did have a pretty similar takeaway from this specific episode. I feel like this season opener was almost the opposite to the last Christmas special. That one really took its time to follow Rose adapting to the new Doctor which gave the audience time to adjust, while this one was like here's your new companion, here's an adventure, let's go! I think it was lucky that Martha was so likeable, and it probably helped that Donna came in between Rose leaving and Martha appearing particularly since a lot of people didn't like Donna much, myself included (although I warmed to her a little bit by the end of the episode). Looking forward to this season, I feel like there are a lot of episodes coming up that I'm not gonna be able to predict your opinion, for me personally it has quite a mix of episodes from meh to wow.

Freema was on Sense8, that’s probably the biggest thing you’d recognize her from. She was also on Law and Order: UK and she’s currently on New Amsterdam a medical drama.

Seriously, I think episode wise this is my favorite series and I absolutely adore Martha. I realized that I'm pretty alone with this view when I introduced someone to Doctor Who through this episode and it may or may not have out them off Doctor Who entirely. I just love how in this episode the Doctor really feels strange and new. Looking back though I see how this is super whacky, haha.
