Oh wow..I haven’t heard this bts song in a while. They were so different back then, style wise. Now they still do “hard” songs like UGH or outro tear or Cypers or agust d 2 album but back then they mostly did mostly hip hop. Also rm hates seeing his old photos or videos. They have done reaction to there old videos/photos and to some degree they all cringe about there style mostly. Rm mentioned that he hated his hair back then and he’s embarrassed that he didn’t notice it sooner. As different as there style was musically and fashion wise there songs still had deep meaning or at least tried to talk about important subject. Even back then bts have been writing there music so it is going to be quite different bc they were all from the ages 14/15-19/20. Even thought suga and rm have been writing music sense they were around 13, at that age I assume writing music is difficult and they were just starting out. Glad you checked the song out💜And you definitely have to check out bts festa 2020 dinner video or there 2020 karaoke video

I love seeing the old stuff. It shows how much they've grown and changed lol. Also, Ian Holm was also in the Fifth Element lol.

I second what Kiki said above ^^ but just wanted to add: I’m glad you guys liked the song! And I think I’ve commented this before but when they first debuted they said they felt like they were just so hungry for respect and recognition and in turn put on this hyper-masculine, hyper-tough image because —as a group of mostly teens— they thought this would get them respect among peers and industry leaders (it didn’t 😢), but they definitely learned being true to yourself and being authentic is what gets you respect. The lyrics have always been A+, which is why they have picked up so many loyal fans. They (and their company) had very little money at this time since this was a month after their debut which is why this isn’t very flashy mv wise but whatever they lack they made up for with choreo and heart. Their growth and change is one of the best things about them. Also I love the little movie trivia schmoedown at the end there. Lol

I agree with both of you. I think partially it's them growing up (they were teens really at this point) and them becoming even MORE authentic. Hearing the members speak about themselves during debut really shows that they've grown over the years. Jimin has said multiple times that he wants to tell debut Jimin to "become me more quickly." They also had "concepts" they had to uphold back then that they slowly let go of over time (Jin talks about this in Festa 2019 around 30 mins in with him saying he acted like that due to the concepts given to him). So, I think it is fair to say that it's a combination of both of your opinions at the end. They were young and therefore presented themselves differently and they also have become more authentic over time.

Really really random side note, but RM actually used to have dreadlocks as a teenager for a bit. When preparing for debut he cut them out (probably at the prompting of the company) and got that perm. He said he finds that old hair and the name “Rap Monster” cringy. He got the name because it was a line he shouted in a song during his underground days and it became a joking nickname. He wanted to change to RM since only a couple years after debut then finally did in 2017. He wanted to be seen as more than just a rapper and not only a “monster” ...a scary guy with a scary name. On a more related note I love this song because it’s literally them introducing themselves. Both individually, all the rap versus are literal member introductions, and as a group, as it’s one of the title tracks off their debut album. The debut of the BULLETPROOF Boyscouts. Also I can’t help but find it cute! Jungkook is literally 15 here! And I miss their heavy eyeliner days
