Episode Synopsis:  The Doctor, Mickey and Rose land on a spaceship in the 51st century only to find 18th century Versailles on board, the time of Madame De Pompadour! To find out what's going on the Doctor must enter Versailles and save Madame De Pompadour but it turns into an emotional roller coaster for the Doctor.

This is my joint favourite episode from this season and also in my top ten Doctor Who episodes in general, I just love everything about it, from the music, to the costumes, the dialogue, the clockwork robots, the humour, the emotional ending and the “I know who you are, your mr thick thick thickety thick from thicktown thickania, and so’s your dad” But yeah the chemistry between reinnette and the Doctor is so good as both actors were dating each other at the time. And yeah John you’re correct with the ending and also the twist of the time jump at the end is set up from the beginning as the Doctor remarks that the fireplace has a dodgy connection which is why when he’s on the spaceship time goes forward from her being a young girl to a 20 year old and then again from being 37 when she chooses a star to her passing away at 42, it’s also why the Doctor was able to use that one to get back to the spaceship as all the strong connections were broken when he smashed the mirror but that one loose connection (the fireplace) managed to hold on.
