Episode Synopsis:

The Krillitanes - aliens with a mix-and-match physiology - are trying to crack the 'God-Maker', a paradigm to give them ultimate power. They are using children as a computer, and only the Doctor and Rose, reunited with Sarah Jane Smith and K9 can prevent them from becoming masters of time and space.

I'm not a big fan of this episode comparatively. With the exception of having the previous companions Sarah Jane and K9 feature. It does have quite a few moments that stick out as quotable. But villian of the week and that part of the story doesn't click with me.

Tazarati

My favourite companion from my favourite original series!!!, and you may laugh....but there is a Sarah Jane spinoff series, look it up😁....thank you for sharing your viewing, you guys a great fun to watch

Janet Shearer

My favorite too. I was afraid I might have to get real defensive of Sarah Jane and k9, but you guys ended up ok 😉. Same actress, and actually didn’t seem to age much.

I love, love, love this episode! I agree with what you said in your comments (I haven't watched your reaction yet!), although perhaps I like the Krilitanes more than you did. Ryan will probably tell you more about Sarah Jane, but yes, she was part of the Classic!Who - very much so. As was K9. In a way, this episode reminds me of a SPN MOTW. The monster is fine, but what's really interesting is the character stuff - the various interactions between Rose, the Doctor, Sarah Jane, Mickey and Giles, which is all so wonderful (my favourite moments being when the Doctor first sees Sarah Jane and when Sarah Jane finally recognizes the Doctor). We're not often reminded of the age of the Doctor in relation to his companions. In Classic Who, the Doctor was normally played by an older man - 40s or 50s, or even 60s, so there was never this kind of chemistry with a companion (who back then was normally a lesser assistant). With Nu!Who we've had some younger, charismatic Doctors, so it's easy to forget how old he is. To the extent Mickey is feeling like a third wheel, I blame it all on him. He can see Rose is absolutely infatuated with someone else. It's been obvious time and again. The fact that it's not actually a romantic relationship with the Doctor makes no difference. If he wants to try to hang on to her, that's up to him. They're not married - she has made no promise to him. He can give it up or, if he wants, wait for Rose to 'break up' with the Doctor, if that should ever happen. p.s. just watched the reaction. Please, can we have *some* volume. I could barely hear anything at all - there was nothing to sync with. Your other Who reactions were significantly louder - I checked.

Sarah Jane was a companion to the third and fourth doctors and is one on the most popular classic who companions (and yes she was played by the same actress). I love this episode but I think that's mostly because of the Sarah Jane bits so I can see why someone who doesn't have the same emotional investment might not like this episode as much

Also Balamory is pronounced Bal-a-More-ee. The names of the creatures are the Krillitanes and to my knowledge no the actress who played Queen Victoria did not play that role when she appeared in Classic Who. Everything else is either covered in the comments or in the facts I’ve sent you 😊

Also I’ve never seen Buffy so I just associate Anthony Head with his role of Uther Pendragon in Merlin, that and the lovely accounts from people that he’s a genuinely great guy in real life 👍

(REEL REJECTS DONT LOOK AT THIS ONE) Coincidentally, another actor from the tv series Merlin appears in Next weeks episode as Reinettes friend in the scene where they are walking in the garden.

The little girl that gets killed at the beginning is actually a very good friend of mine. We met at uni and used to laugh at all her cringey childhood performances. I had totally forgotten about her appearance in this show until I saw her face and essex accent pop up on screen.

CC

I knew him first from Buffy, but Uther is the role that I would most associate with him now too. Loved that show!

Mimi M

OMG. Yesssss he is Uther. I was wondering why he looked familiar cause i have never seen Buffy. LOL Thanks. it was really bothering me.
