I thought Rays self immolation as a revenge really fit his character and contextualizing how much harder it was for him to wait years and years for his plan to come to fruition. I also like slighty edgy /rebellious characters in anime if done right. Also that whole oceans eleven type cutting back and forth was pretty cool touch . I def agree about the visuals . The way the characters were shaded and how light interacted with them its really cool looking , especially reflections in their eyes. Contrasting with how Ray looked and how Emma looked with that . Theres just really higher production values fro this ep especially . And poor Phil , lol ,

2021-07-15 04:44:35 Gahhh friggin' Phil! My heart about exploded when he showed up in that last moment 😅 but yeah, as far as those kinds of plans go, I thought Ray's was pretty dead-on. Like.. it's obviously super-sinister given the fact that he's all of 11/12 years old lol, but the perfect "fuck you" to the whole twisted system. Obviously I'm glad Emma intervened, but I can't deny that at the very back of my mind, part of me was like, "you go, Ray." lol I think they do a nice job justifying his personality &amp; overall demeanor, just given what we learn about his memory &amp; subsequent life. If any kid's gonna be jaded here, it's this one. Can definitely imagine them wanting to go out on a bang on the animation side. God, so much of the fire imagery and the light vs. shadows popping up all over.. And yeah, the various uses of reflection. Show really does feel like it's pushing some of those visual boundaries - at least to my eyes... Only one ep. left before hiatus!!! 😫
