Thanks for the question, UNCHAINED FUSION !

FULL QUESTION IS:

Why do you think people are more willing to see a mediocre/bad horror movie than a great independent horror movie (ex. The Babadook, Raw, It Follows) even though the critics and the marketing are in favor of the independent horror movie(s)?

Thank you so much for answering my question! I do agree what you have to say in this video! The reason I asked this question because I have been seeing a somewhat increase in independent films with marketing with Blumhouse and other films as well including “The Lighthouse”, which oddly I’ve been seeing the trailer in major theater chains, and as an avid horror movie lover it breaks my heart when I hear people I know or I see on the internet talking more about a “bad” movie, whether they like it or not, then talking about an independent horror film that has been marketed to a good amount of people. But you’re right about independent horror movies being such a niche group of people like myself and hopefully in the future we see a more major market for independent movies to hopefully get more people intrigued. Thanks again! Been watching you guys since 2015! P.S. My favorite movie of the year so far is “The Nightingale” and I wish more people would see it 😆

2021-07-15 05:02:16 No problem, man!! Thanks for the question & thank you so much for watching and sticking with us all this time!!! Seriously means a lot to us :) Definitely feel where you're coming from here - especially hearing people talk at length about bad blockbusters (or bad anything) when we could be giving more focus to the good/more-interesting things going under-noticed. It's fascinating to see, too, because the taste in the mainstream changes periodically and comes & goes in cycles. Slashers were all the rage for a bit, then torture flicks, vampires, zombies, and now the glut of paranormal & demonic stories, so that always leaves the door open for interesting things.. But we'll see. Here's hoping the Blumhouses & A24's of the world can keep getting these flicks out to more and more of the masses & open up the lanes for more. Aaaand thank you for reminding me about The Nightingale!!! I would LOVE to see it at some point. Sadly these are the kinds of films I often wanna see most & struggle to make it to haha. But been waiting for Jennifer Kent's followup since I first saw Babadook, so I'm definitely gonna hunt that one down. That and Destroyer I wanna see really bad.
