I had similar thoughts first time I watched it. It just seemed like usual genre anime without excelling in anything. It's interesting in hindsight how particular things are portrayed and now that I have context why some things the way they are.

Curious how we'll feel when we've gotten a little further, but glad we're not totally off base with this haha. Definitely enjoyable, just waiting for it to become.. remarkable! But from what everyone's said good things are in-store, so.. we'll remain patient haha.

I also want to say that hxh is not as consistent as my hero or full metal alchemist due to length of the show and overall it has pretty significant flaws. There's lots of peaks and valleys in its entire run. So if you guys don't think particular ep. was good, probably because it wasn't. Lol. But from my perspective I have never seen a show that has such fantastic buildups towards particular confrontations and planting seeds early that pay off way later. Also sometimes pay attention how Gon reacts to everything around him vs how every other person does in this world. You kinda noticed that already, but theres more to it.

Hahaha that makes a lot of sense. I guess we'll try not to sweat too much if a dud or two pop up every now & again 😅 excited to get deeper in & to start picking up on some of these threads & buildups. Gonna keep my eyes and ears as keen as I can for details haha. And good to know that's an intentional thing we're picking up on with Gon. Was a little afraid it was a nitpick or a gripe haha.
