Happy Monday, peeps!

Join me for another dreary sojourn to the world of HILL HOUSE...

This episode once again shifts focus, this time toward the middle daughter/sister, Theo...  How have the horrors of the past informed her present?

Join me 'n find out!!

(This one definitely had a fair amount of reaction moments to choose from..  here're a couple un-used thumbs!)

Theo's sensitivity is a fascinating thing to add to the story. I love how they built it up with the close ups on her hands and emphasizing her responses whenever she touche's something. The end of the episode was so damn heavy. Once you realize that she plans on touching Nell it becomes this guessing game of how she's going to react. Based on her experience with "Mr. Smiley" it looks as if she's able to put herself in the moment of the people she's trying to connect with. The scene with her in the basement is chilling because it's as if she's reliving the molestation that the girl went through. It begs the question of what she saw from Nell to make her react that way. Does she know how Nell died or was she able to maybe tap into the emotions she was feeling at the time? Not everything is clear, but the progression is being handled so well. Yeah you caught on to the structure of the show. We will get episodes following the other characters. Nell's episode...yeah that one is a rough ride.

The next two 4 episodes in my opinion are the best of the show... I'm so ready for the emotional terrifying ride!!!

Oh god, I can only imagine what Nell's is going to be like 😅😰 fascinated, though, for sure.. and I'm pretty excited to see Luke's as he's the still the one we know the least about. Really well put, man. I thought they handled Theo's sensitivity pretty nicely overall. Love that those little motifs are there in the previous episodes, but it takes until this point to contextualize them. And yeah, after everything we've witnessed thru her already, that moment where she steps up to Nell's body brings SO much tension with it. Really appreciate the times in which the show just plays the horror straight in people's reactions and emotions. Credit to the acting as well as the writing/direction choices. And boy, everything with Mr. Smiley... really well-drawn, but.. so devastating. And yeah, the way it appears she's sort of absorbing or reliving those traumatic feelings.. Oof.. And even the more subtle scenes, like when she awkwardly hugs Steven after taking the money. Says something about the both of them in its own way. Gotta imagine we'll get a better idea of whatever she saw when Nell's episode rolls around.. I shudder to think haha. Thanks, as always, for watchin' with me, man!!!

Oooh, good to know!! These first few were terrific in my opinion, so I can only imagine what's ahead. Either way I'm excited!!! 😄😱

2021-07-15 05:17:00 Great thoughts and breakdown of one of my fave episodes! Kate Siegel is amazing (as is everyone) and the kids on this show are just the best. They did such a great job matching the actors playing the adult/kid versions of each character. The scene when she touches Nell...just wow. No music, no gimmicks, just pure emotion. Beautifully shot & acted as usual!

Aw, thanks man!! Thus far, the episodes have just gotten better and better, IMO. Really loved this one, though - especially Kate Siegel's performance! The Nell scene definitely got me. Especially since Shirley's experience was more visual, made for a nice little subversion/contrast. I think that's one of my favorite aspects of this show, just the way in which they tend to rely on emotion and reactions to drive the tension and horror. And yeah, I've been quite enjoying the matches with the kids as well. Top notch across the board with this show, man! Almost half-way now!!!
