The potential dynamic between Black Mirror and The Twilight Zone reminds me of the Star Trek / Star Wars relationship when A New Hope came out in '77. Hopefully this may signal we're in an era of quality anthology. During the origional Twilight Zone's run there was also The Outer Limits and Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

It’s either going to be awesome, or tv’s version of the bloody awful Gus Van Sant scene by scene recreation of Psycho.

2021-07-15 05:17:22 Ooh, that's a good call! Similar forms & concepts with an altogether-different core sensibility. Personally I'd be thrilled to usher in a new age of quality anthologies. I just.. wouldn't wanna overdo it haha. 'Cause we've got Black Mirror, now Twilight Zone, a new Creepshow series on the way... Tales from the Crypt was coming back for a hot minute.. Although, given your point about the Outer Limits and Alfred Hitchcock Presents, I suppose it wouldn't be so out of place to have a few running.. But yeah, beyond that initial trepidation, I'm actually pretty excited. I love the anthology format and would love to see it as a more solid mainstay in the landscape again - especially since they've been making something of a comeback in movies for the past few years. Plus, who knows? Maybe if the new Twilight Zone is successful we'll eventually get a new Night Gallery!

Hahaha oh goodness, let's hope for the former! I think the saving grace here is that they won't be solely recreating the older stories, but mixing them in with new ones, so in that respect, I'm decently optimistic.
