are you guys liking the show so far?

I can’t ever watch that spider part! 😖 idk about y’all, but I am TERRIFIED of them. Beetles and worms aren’t that scary, but spiders are a big ‘hell no’ for me!

This is probably one of the weakest episodes of the season imo. I will say though, that I can't watch the spider scene or I'll end up paranoid for the rest of the day.

Yeah, man! I don't think we're quite to the point that we're full-on LOVING it just yet, but I think we're both definitely enjoying the show so far. Always look forward to shooting these each week. Plus it's cool to still be in the first season where (at least for us) there's still so much mystery and anticipation for how the show will take shape and all that... good stuff!

thereelrejects

UGGGHHHH haha, I do not blame you in the slightest. Made my skin crawl watching that haha, what a nightmare. I think any amount of bugs en masse have the potential to be freaky, but spiders are at the tippy top of that list, so I feel ya 😅

thereelrejects

Hahaha right?? Such an effectively skin-crawling moment. I think we both ultimately had some issues with the way this one wrapped up by the end. Definitely appreciated some things about this episode (oddly enough some of the supporting characters have stuck with me since we watched it), but I'd agree it's probably not one of my favorites thus far. Either way, though, excited to move onto the next one!

"Bugs" is probably my least favorite episode of the first season, just cause it wraps up kind of abruptly and they touch on the whole Native American curse aspect but for like two seconds. Fun fact, the actors Jared and Jensen have mentioned that they did use actual bees in the attic scene but since they didn't appear on film they had to add CGI bees anyway lol The next episode is "Home" and I really think you guys are gonna like that one. EDIT: No spoilers, but there's more to come on the boys relationship with their dad.

thereelrejects

Yeah, I think we definitely shared a few of those concerns with this episode. Especially with the Native American character - kinda wished they'd given him (and the idea) something more than just the standard "Ancient Native American Curse" speech. And I'm still kinda torn on the ending because part of me kinda appreciates the variety of having one adventure that really just requires them to be aware of (and then outlast) the curse, but.. from a writing standpoint, it just doesn't feel like much of an actual choice, if that makes sense. Still had fun, though. Also that suuuucks haha. I think I literally felt a phantom ache for them reading that. All the effort for actual bees only for them not to show up on camera 😖😂 And good to know!! I feel like you were pretty on point with your prediction for our enjoyment of the last episode haha, so I'll trust your judgement again this time 😉 especially if there are more family affairs along the way!

Brian Lacock

The cast and crew of the show often goodheartedly rip on this as one of, if not the worst episode of the show, so much so that they mention it in at least one fourth wall break. The early poorly written episodes are also often more noticeable in my opinion because the production team learned over time how to mask the poorer plot lines under camp.

thereelrejects

Oh damn.. interesting! Would love to hear a few of those jokes haha - and generally would welcome a bit more camp from the show overall. Appreciate you chiming in!! 😊

Not my favorite overall episode on the "monster of the week" aspect, but I love the look into the family dynamic

thereelrejects

Oh yeah, I think that was our favorite part of this one. Actually rather enjoyed the stuff with the father & son they were helping out and the way some of that came back to reflect on Sam & Dean. Perhaps our least favorite ep. so far, but not without its charms!

brittany beyerle

probably the worst episode, but the cast worked with actual bees in the last scene.

thereelrejects

Haha there's such an amusingly weird irony to that. Like... it's pretty cool they were all down to tangle with some actual bees, but.. 😬😬😬 haha. I did like the son character, though.
