Saw Incredibles 2 tonight. Loved the movie. Not let down by it at all. Jack Jack had some terrific scenes. I was confused by the short that played before the movie though.

I’m gonna see it today at 10. I’m so excited!

Neeraj Krishnan

The short movie is about a mother struggling to be an empty nester. She anthropomorphizes the dumpling as her own child, until it begins to rebel. It's the relationship between an overprotective parent and her child using the dumpling as a metaphor.

Ron Harrison

The mother ate the dumpling. Then, we see a young adult with the memories and experience of the dumpling. Kind of a stretch.

Ron Harrison

Unless the young adult is the reincarnation of the dumpling.

Neeraj Krishnan

The young adult isn't a reincarnation,it is the real son. If you remember the scene she eats the dumpling and it automatically turns into the scene where she is crying on the bed. We were told the story through the mothers memories of what happened. The son leaving was a traumatic event, and the dumpling she had made for breakfast or lunch was his favorite, which triggered some memories for her. Hence why we see them making it at the end with the sons wife.

Neeraj Krishnan

The husband had noticed that his wife was missing their son a lot.So he forced the son to spend some quality time with his mom.

Would have to go back and watch it again, but at least as I recall it, this seems like a pretty good breakdown. Appreciate you giving us a little interpretation!

Have you guys checked out the How To Train Your Dragon trilogy?
