Takrowlek's Low Kick in Slow Motion & The Top 5 Greatest Fighters (Patreon)
Content
Above is a new version of the slow motion capture we did with Takrowlek Dejrat, this time with speed variation and no commentary. The original can be found in his Muay Thai Library session which also details his very effective low-kick Muay Beuk Golden Age style, which he teaches out of his home gym in Bangkok.
Along with filming documentary full sessions with legends and great fighters and krus of the Golden Age, we've been creating these slow motion captures so all the beauty and disappearing finesse of these fighters can be preserved for study and enjoyment. Muay Thai is changing, and the conditions under which these styles and techniques developed, individually in their example no longer exist. It resides in them.
There are now 25 slow motion captures we've done, and all of them can be found in this YouTube Playlist: Slow Motion Capture of Muay Thai Legends
The Greatest Muay Thai Fighters Who Ever Fought: The Poll
We've also been taking a poll of all the ex-fighters and great krus, on who they would choose as the best fighters who have ever fought. It was our way of looking back into history, and move away the kinds of lists that rely on who happened to make highlight videos, or be favored in English language summations. These are fighters that others saw in the ring with their own eyes, and often fought. Yes, individual choices can be distorted or show favoritism, but the idea is that as our poll grows more and more we get an accurate picture of true Muay Thai greatness. Much of Muay Thai knowledge resides in the oral histories and the eyes of those who were there.
This is Takrowlek's Top 5 Greatest Muay Thai Fighters choice:
We've compiled the votes in a running result that is regularly updated. It is a weighted point system count with anyone who has been chosen as a Top 5 fighter by someone else has their own vote doubled. Generally though, 5 points for a 1st place vote, 4 for second, etc. The numbers in parentheses are the number of first place votes a fighter has received.
This is the latest totals:
The Greatest Who Ever Fought
Many, many of the fighters on this list are archived in the Muay Thai Library. You can just do a keyword search on our Table of Contents page and find their sessions. Everyone with an MTL is in the Library.
You can actually see everyone voting as we've recorded all of them, including their reasons why they chose each fighter, in this YouTube playlist. Top 5 Greatest Muay Thai Fighters as Picked by Legends and Great Fighters
These are just some of the extra layers of documentation we are doing in our attempt to preserve the legacy of Muay Thai and record the history of its greatness, beyond even the extraordinary Muay Thai Library project itself. Thank you for supporting!
