Sylvie's Technique Vlog - Control of the Kick (11 min) (Patreon)
Content
My technique vlogs for my patrons are in depth conversations on things I'm working on, mostly techniques that I've learned from legends and krus in the Library. This one developed out of the work Arjan Gimyu (78 years of age) has been doing with me at Petchrungruang. We're in the process of adding him to the Library, he's one of the great krus of the Golden Age, head trainer of Kaensak Sor Ploenjit, 2x Fighter of the Year (who is in the Library), and my own Kru, Pi Nu. This work developed out of the Floating Block, something taught to me many years ago by Sakmongkol, an important skill to learn, but something that can also have drawbacks (like, starting to pull your kick too much) if you don't pay attention to what you are training. Arjan Gimyu unlocked the next level of this for me, making the two actions (kick, then block), a single action. This is something you might want to experiment along with me.
Kevin's shot of me today on the bag, practicing Arjan Gimyu's technique (above), you can follow his photography on Instagram here, and buy framed or unframed prints here.
