In this episode I follow Dieselnoi and his impact on Alex, one of the Petchrungruang fighters, at Rajadamnern stadium. Alex has been featured in previous Kaimuay Diaries, an Italian boy who has been raised like a Thai boy since he was 12. Now 17, Dieselnoi wanted to make make him more intense and forward fighting. You get to see Dieselnoi's passion, and listen to Pi Nu talk about what it has been like having a legend like Dieselnoi in his family's gym. This is just part 1, the next Kaimuay Diaries will follow the story and Dieselnoi's focus on training Bank.

Thank you to all my patrons who made this time with Dieselnoi possible.

Kaimuay Diaries - Documentary Series - this is an informal record of the everyday life and training of my gym in Pattaya, one of the few remaining official "kai muay" - a Thai gym which founds its business on the raising of Thai stadium fighters, and not focusing on training westerners.

Kaimuay Diaries - Episode 1  | Maintenance Mode (29 min) - a quiet look at the top stadium fighters at the gym in a typical maintenance mode day. With no fights coming up the training is light, communal and playful. watch it here

Love Dieselnoi's energy. Thanks for taking us behind the scenes. Midway through Kru Nu's interview (47:28-47:37), the screen goes black and the words "Sample Text" appear on the screen while the audio continues in the background.

Great interview, loved these Kaimuay Diaries, it feels like I'm being transported to Raja stadium and Petchrungruang gym! I have a side question, Sylvie, I'm not sure if you have addressed this before, during Kru Nu's interview, he mentions being made to change his style from Muay femur to Muay Khao, this is not the first instance I have heard of a Muay Thai fighter being made to make adjustments to their style, but outside of personal preference, could you sometimes perhaps elaborate on some of reasons why one would be forced to adapt their style, at least from the Thailand perspective (camp pressure, entertainmntt factor , injuries etc.) Thanks again for the great content and inspiration!

Will you ever show an instructional on the stretching method you discussed that Dieselnoi uses?

sylviemuay

I assume you mean when he stands on you and pulls your limbs. There are 2 Kaimuay Diary entries and probably he does it at some point with Bank, where you could see it. There's no "instruction" though, it's something he does and Thais walk on each other as a form of massage, so it probably is a form of that.
