Narrative ellipsis between pages 5 -6 (Patreon)

HI Patreons! I'm writting this post to explain the 'narrative ellipsis' that I've used between pages 5 - 6.

For the last page I've used a popular comic resource:

Instead of showing action-reaction I just show the reaction, for giving the comic more dynamism and impact.


So, when the bunny grabs Bastian's ass, instead of showing how Bastian grabs the rabbit and throws him against the urinal, I just showed the reaction, I just showed how the rabbit is pushed against the urinal.

However, the panels sequence is understandable.


Making the panels that way have two advantages:

The action is faster AND I control the amount of violence that I'm showing in the comic.

I mean, I know how much people want to see several pages with the rabbit being punished, however this comic is not about violence, (Bastian don't want to hit the rabbit at the first instance but he's forced by the situation). So I don't need to show the scene when Bastian becomes violent.


So How do you feel about the last page? Do you think I should have include the whole scene with no 'narrative ellipsis' showing how Bastian throws the rabbit against the urinal?

Are you satisfied about how the rabbit ends?


Please comment, this comic is for all of you so, I'll follow your advices.

well i understand your point of view about the violence BUT it's sincerely like we passed out for a month and missed the action somewhere. you should add something at least showing bastian grabbing the rabbit hand, telling him something like "fuck off" and then next scene bitchy rabitchy is head first into the toilet. doesn't show violence but still closes the gap in between. i swear when i had your page 6 i thought i had missed something in page 5 and checked again. other than that how he ends yeah am satisfied yep heheh

I see your point. I would like to receive more oppinions from the patreons but I've decided something so far, I won't use narrrative ellipsis again. It's true that since this comic has plot and sadly I can't draw a new page every week, people should read again the previous page to follow the plot. But yeah, I'll make sure to don't do this again ^^

sorry if i was to harsh on my comment, you could just easily change that by adding a small square of his hand being grabbed a typically used graphically "SLAM" between to panels too

Well I have to think on it, because changing something would break completely the panels sequence. And I want to hear what the rest of the Patreons have to say about it. If I receive more complaints, I'll consider changing that. Of course your oppinion is extremely important to me, that's the reason I'm doing this ^^

hehe i just got that "bad habit", from what some people say, to always say what i think. and i times i am afraid it comes out to blunt or harsh on the person. so that's why i don't want to anger someone i like hehe.

Well, I think that the ellipsis at the top of the page it´s a little confusing, as karmakat I have to look back because I thought that I have missed some page or something, maybe the previous page should was ended with the panel suggested with Karmakat

I'm going to follow you and Karmakat advice then and I'll add a little panel at the beginning of the last page with Bastian grabbing the rabbit ^^
