Welcome to our very first Dev-Dairy for the „Inflatable Alice“-Videogame.

First of I want to excuse myself for the missing updates for the Game. I am still figuring out if I am able to make it, so this whole work I am doing right now is more a personal project during my free time. I already said on my Discord that I used to be a professional Game developer before my Burnout in 2008. So I am taking things a little bit easy on it, and I also have to do some commissions to pay my bills.

Also, while writing the “Rules” for the game I have noticed that it’s better to put the Live2D-Feature on hold for now. Since there will be no real dialogue between characters it’s better to show Alice in variations of CG-Pictures to show her progress of growing. Live2D might come back once I might add some story to the game.

Anyways, that’s enough of that for now, let’s get to the Dairy:

Today, we will be talking about the core game mechanics of the Game “Inflatable Alice”. I decided to make the game more a “Game” and less an interactive Story. For that I am creating a set of Rules based on a six (D6) and a ten (D10) sided dice. Yes, you are reading right…dice. That means, as the project develops the rules will also expand, and you might be able to use it for your RP-Session or maybe even for a nightlong Pen&Paper session. Let’s take a look at the first Level, shall we?

As you might see the very first Level of the Game will be in “Alice Bedroom” and is focused about Air-Inflation. Each Level has some “Clickable”-Objects the Player can interact with.

The goal of each session is to hit the “Pressure”-Value and the Value for the Body part (Boob, Belly, Butt) you are inflating. If you succeed you will unlock a new CG-Picture for your gallery. But be careful, once you have reached the “Pop”-Value the inflation stops and you lose this session.

The game works in turns. At the beginning of each turn you decide which device you like to use. Then you roll a D6 and add the score with modifications to your Pressure-Value. For the body parts the points will be distributed equally when they have the same sizes. If one is bigger it gets less points or even nothing if other body parts are way smaller. Uneven results are rounded up. This simulates that bigger parts have more internal pressure and the “filler” is going automatically to the area with less restriction.

Example:

You are using the industrial air pump and rolling 2D6, scoring a 2 and a 5. That’s a 7 in total and you add the +4 Bonus to it making the Pressure-Value an 11. You are “Hourglass” inflating and your Boobs have a size of 9 and your Butt is at size 5. 4 Points of the Pressure-Value going to your Butt making it a 9 too. The remaining 3 Points are increasing your Boobs and Butt by 2 (Points are rounded up to make it even).

If you haven’t reach the needed Score to win or the “Pop”-Value you roll with a D10 for a possible Event.

Most of these events will modify your score or all of your next Event-Rolls. They can also end the inflation and you have to switch to a new device in the next round.

Most events can be counter by actions be the Player. A few are done as a preparation before the Inflation Starts. Other counters are actions which will appear once the event has triggered.

Once the Event is done and all modifications are applied you start a new round with possible modifications to your new results (Example: +1 to your Event-Roll)

Notifications

In Game, the player will get a dialogue from a Poll of answers when he has chosen a device while the Dice Rolling is happening in the Background.

Examples:

Alice says: Oh, the pressure is so high.

Pressure-Value roll was a 5-6

Alice says: I have way more room for more.

Pressure Value is low.

Alice says: That’s it! I can’t take anymore!

Pressure Level has reached the needed Score to win

Getting too big

Most of the time the inflated person gets so big, that she can’t do anything. This happens automatically at the “bigger”, “biggest” and “enormous” sizes. In this case the Inflation-Device can’t break from Events and the Player is in the mercy of the randomizer if she gets the ideal size or bursts. Countermeasures are not allowed in this state.

That’s it for today’s DevDairy and I am quite sure this is just the beginning of the rule set for the game. But it should give you a small inside look of what’s going to happen with it.
