The seeking Guardian (Wallpaper) (Patreon)

I started this picture in September 2016. Skie took about a month to get finished but the background turned out as a bigger project as expected. Over all I finished the whole picture in February 2016 with a few longer breaks to get a better overview for mistakes and to catch the atmosphere right. First there was a second ice pillar on the left side of Skie but it doesn’t feel right because it was cutting the whole picture into two parts. The second problem I had to face was the development of the frozen army. The first try didn’t looked “epic” enough for what I was trying to archive so I scaled the first try down to half of its size and added more soldiers to it.

Now to the story behind the picture…

Here you can see Skie as a full mature Woman, which she will become at the final of her story. As the daughter of “Father Time”, better known as “Father Death”, she is taking care of dead souls and the “River of Time”. That’s the reason why her design is more “motherly” here. Skie is immortal and can control time. But this all gives her a huge responsibility. She is the one who makes sure that everything goes it own course. During her younger forms a war damaged the flow of time and it’s her duty to gather the broken shards of it known as “Time Crystals”. Most beings don’t know the real meaning of them but since they are glowing they are often used as ornaments or decorations. It’s her highest task to restore “Time” and sometimes she needs to freeze time to everything.

And that’s what the pictures shows:

Skie is collection the Time-Crystal of a dead soldier (In the sword). And to reach him without being seen she had frozen the Time. When she is done with collection the crystal the battle will continue until the very end. She will not try the stop it because this would damage “Time” as well. She is a cold person because of her intelligent. But since she is raised by Humans her “warm” skin still shows her feelings and its melting her dress which creates tears like if she is crying.

This type of pictures is the reason why I started to make Artworks years ago. And that’s also the reason why I joined Patreon. Overall the picture almost took a half year with planning and realization. I am going to try at least one kind of these pictures per year. The next one will show the person responsible for the damage on the “River of Time”.
