Unreleased Song #19: Let it Roar (Patreon)

It was 2016. I was in the final writing stages of my record 'Weightless'. My manager at the time also managed Colbie Caillat. (I never did meet her but we exchanged messages on MySpace back in the day. Not to brag! Hahahaha) He set me up to write with Colbie's frequent collaborator, Jason Reeves. You've surely heard the hit songs they've written together: 'Bubbly' and 'Realize'. Not only that, but Jason is an incredible, boundary-pushing artist in his own right.

I distinctly remember how NERVOUS I was on my long drive out to Jason's house. I had a terrible cold and couldn't think of any song ideas. I was SURE I should have canceled. But it was a big deal to get this writing date! So I knocked on the door. Jason was so nice and down to earth. His creativity was inspiring to witness. We wrote this song in his home studio, where he produced it on the spot (that always blows my mind!!) and recorded my vocal. You can definitely hear that I have a cold! Lol, but listening back, I really dig this song and just wish I could've gotten out of my head to enjoy every second of the process.
